“It's a temple ....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

It's a temple like many others, albeit one with a famous history. Unfortunately, most people coming here are too tired after hiking for 5+ hours through the national park, that they don't have energy for enjoying this temple, but are just looking for some food and drink.

Objectively, it's not more or less specials than the 1000s of other temples in Korea, but it's nice and if you're hiking through the national park anyway, definitely make a quick stop here.

“Gapsa Temple meaning Foremost Temple”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012

Gapsa Temple is an easy day trip from Gongju. If you are considering hiking in Gyeryongsan Mountain National Park, it is worthwhile to stop and look at Gapsa. While walking around the temple you can see the traditional kimchi jars that are used for making kimchi.
