I've been going to Naze Marine for several years and this was by far the best. In the past food was clearly micro-waved, slow to arrive and a pain to even get ordered.
This year it was GREAT. We were joined by family halfway through our holiday and were ordering meals for 14 people at once - It was all brought quickly, looked and tasted clearly fresh, and was good value for money!
Breakfasts too were both keenly priced and delicious!
In years past everything was clearly deep fried, but this year everything was spot on - From ingredient quality down to how they were actually cooked - My mother-in-law was with us and said the 'fry up' was "not greasy at all" and this is high praise indeed from her lol!
I did not wait long to be served at the bar, and there were deals available that made an evening there much more affordable.
The evening Bingo is now a 'linked' session between numerous parks, and this meant the prizes often topped £1000, but with the odds still being pretty good. On my last 3 nights our resort had a winner on each of them!
I cannot rate the 'late' adult entertainment as I took my kids to bed after the bit aimed at them, but the 'Krew Club' evening stint wowed all of my 4 children aged 4-10 on every single night!
The entertainers had a good grip on behaviour and fairly gave every child a chance, whereas in past years the 'owners' children who'd be there for all six weeks semed to get preference.
They were all extremely personable, helpful and actually interested in the kids in their charge.
The morning 'Krew Club' was pretty basic in terms af activities, but to be honest my kids absolutely loved the creative arts n' crafts stuff as it was 10:00 and we were not really up for anything too hectic so early on in the day. We got involved and helped our kids create stuff and it was a lovely family activity.
The pool was lovely, and literally every member of staff was pleasant, helpful and made you feel welcomed.
There's an outdoor playground in a fenced in area right next to the pool, restaurant / bar that's never overly crowded.
You can sit outside, read a paper and chill whilst the kids play safely. Even if you want to sit inside and have a coffeee the kids are still visible and contained in the large play area.
This year Naze Marine seem to have got their 'consistency' right as it's up to standard across the board.
There must've been a management change since last summer as it really shows in the overall quality of my stay - I had a Gold Plus caravan. I've always enjoyed my holidays there, but this year was excellent.
The 'arcade' is not overly packed with games machines, but I did not fancy having to re-mortgage my house to let my children play computer games anyway. The most popular game was the 2p drop machine.
I was glad to see it and not the 10p drop machine other more greedy parks would have. I could change up a few pounds and the kids were happy for ages!
The lack of machines meant that my wife and I had far fewer headaches from children pestering us for more money to waste lol!
If you want hi-tech expensive gaming Walton Pier has thousands of machines and is a 10 mins walk, 3 min drive away from the site.
I wanted a 'traditional' english seaside holiday and that's exactly what I got - The beach is lovely and only a few mins stroll away.
Yes, you'll pay a bit more for drinks but that's to be expected, and I'd not take my kids to a place that attracted customers based on budget booze anyway.
There's loads of bars nearby in town, and I can particularly recommend the 'Bath House' bar on the seafront for a great afternoon meal.
It's not 'Butlins' where it's all laid on (and charged accordlingly!) for you 24/7.
It is instead a great family park where the much smaller scale of it means you and your children will actually connect with the staff as individuals and have a lovely time if you go there willing to have fun.
At times it will seem less 'slick' than a huge faceless corporate operation with oodles of staff running around after you, but this for me is its charm, and it's why it's so much more affordable.
My kids absolutely LOVED it and we all really connected as a family whilst we were there as it was on such a smaller scale and thereby more personal all round - See you next year!
