Wish we could have stayed longer. Very high standard rooms and food. Julie and Julian were very welcoming and helpful and it is a beautiful area to visit.. Highly recommended.

The Old Smiddy Guest House is a wonderful experience. We stayed in this spacious and comfortable Garden Room with a view of the local highlands and a lovely garden. This gem near the water is a quiet and spotless B&B. Julie and Julian made us feel welcome immediately and provided lots of helpful recommendations on local sites to see. Of course, the breakfast was fabulous! This is why we visited Scotland.

We were welcomed with freshly baked scones - we were hooked from that moment. This is a beautiful part of Scotland and if I go again, I'd want to stay her.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome by Julie and Julian and after being shown to our room we were treated to homemade scones with jam and clotted cream in their warm and cosy living room. The Garden Room was roomy, spotlessly clean, well presented and very comfortable. The bathroom was a good size, modern with everything you could need and some lovely complimentary toiletries.
After a lovely evenings relaxing walk we simply went back to the "Old Smiddy" and watched a fabulous star filled sky.
Breakfast was taken in the dining room with a view over the garden and hills beyond and was huge! There was a selection of homemade breads and oatcakes as well as cereals and a large selection of cooked breakfasts to choose from. We had a wonderful, peaceful nights stay in a beautiful part of Scotland and wished we had had the time to stay another a night.

  • Liked — The warm welcome, comfortable clean room, home cooking and the glorious night sky

We found the website for the guest house by chance and were sold by the opening page photograph! We stayed for two nights on the way back from Harris & Lewis as part of our honeymoon tour last October. This is a truely unspoilt and non touristy part of Scotland with breathtaking scenery and great walking. We felt like we needed longer to explore!

The bed and breakfast was really great and provided everything you need, with well appointed rooms and a comfy bed. The highlight really is the home cooking, which was just amazing. Breakfast really set you up for the day with homemade breads and jams and we were fortunate enough to have an evening meal, with fresh, local monkfish- excellent. The location is quite rural, so there are not an abudance of resturants and no big towns for some distance- but this is what makes this place so special.
