“A Great Choice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

What a lovely place to arrive at, after a busy day. From afternoon tea on the terrace to a most delicious breakfast in the beautiful dining room, the hospitality was warm and discreet. I really enjoyed reading about some of the history and restoration of this lovely home. My stay in the Isaac Bayly Suite was most comfortable and I would not hesitate to stay here again, should I require accommodation in Hawera.Great value, delightful!

The weather was awful but cosy fires greeted us in the lounge and in the dining room and our bedroom was warm and luxurious. We stayed in the Lovell Suite for our belated 10th anniversary and it made it feel very special. The house and gardens are elegant and spacious. For our celebration we sipped bubbles and ate a perfect dinner cooked and beautifully presented to us by Linda. Lovely family and a lovely place to stay - thank you!

Room Tip: If you enjoy a wallow in a bath then choose the Lovell Suite. The other rooms have nice bathrooms to...

Being only about 4 hours of interesting driving from Wellington, and throwing in a visit to Whanganui, it was a great pleasure to stay in Tairoa Lodge. The Isaac Bayly suite with en suite, was warm and comfortable with a great balcony for the friendly host, Linda, to provide a welcoming afternoon tea. Guest lounge with open fire and stately dining room where we enjoyed the included breakfast, were decorated very tastefully in the Victorian style. The 11am checkout (and the host was flexible on that depending on other bookings) was welcome for a Sunday sleep in. Very relaxing weekend capped off by a dinner at a surprisingly good restaurant about a 5 minute drive away - the II Chefs. Cost of the stay at Tairoa Lodge with breakfast, was excellent value for money, and no hesitation in recommending. Linda, the host, goes that extra mile to make the stay something special.

Room Tip: Suggest you try to get the Isaac Bayly suite - well worth it - although all in the Lodge appeared co...

A little bit of a challenge to find on the way into Hawera, and an adventurous little drive into the parking area, but a very warm and friendly welcome awaited.
A beautifully (if slightly over) restored build with nice gardens. Excellent indulgent service, with tea on arrival served in the lounge with all the trimming. Breakfast was everything you could every want, served with style.
If you have to stay in Hawera - treat yourself:-)
$180 for a twin room with full breakfast seemed reasonable to me, but my travelling companion thought a bit overpriced by NZ standards.

Room Tip: There are only three to choose from :-)

I really enjoyed my stay at Tairoa Lodge. The best part about the stay was the wonderfully warm and inviting hosts! I was travelling on my own so Linda kindly invited me for cocktails to meet her friends. The home and the surrounding area is carefully and tastefully restored. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. I highly recommend this lodge as a destination for anyone travelling through the area... it is very comfortable, welcoming and peaceful.

Whilst travelling throughout NZ for the rugby world cup we had the pleasure of staying at the Tairoa Lodge which is a beautiful house surrounded by well maintained gardens.
Whilst the accommodation was not that close to the game in New Plymouth we could not fault Linda's hostessing skills.
Linda attended to all our needs and provided a delicious breakfast.
We would highly recommend the accommodation and the local museum which is a must!
