“Great Beer and Tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

We visited Mike's for the tour, a tasting and stayed for lunch. The day we visited Ron was not there but the members of his team led by Christine went out of their way to give us a great tour of the facility and enlighten us on how they make the different beers. We were able to taste many of the different beers that they offer. They were all very good with the Double India Pale Ale being exceptional. After the tasting we needed something to eat so had the meatetarian pizza which was excellent along with some more Double IPA. A relaxing and enjoyable visit.

“Disappointing day out.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014 via mobile

We were a group of five adults who went out for lunch. The choices were a pizza or a cheese board. There were some cold drinks and of course the beer.
Service was incredibly slow.

“Jeez Mike??”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2014

Our last attempt was much the same as that of the writer of 'Huge disappointment'. Fearing a repeat we rang ahead to ascertain they weren't overrun by local bogans. Roger negative, we ventured out of the big (ish) smoke full hope and a not unsubstantial thirst.
The reception / bar was hosting bags of recently laundered washing but oh well, we had come this far so ordered a couple of small 'pints' and perused the blackboard menu which consisted of pizza bread , 2 pizza options and a cheese board. Needing lunch the 'Meataranium' (sic) pizza was really the only option but jeez at $30.00 was setting itself up big time in the expectation stakes!
After 40 odd minutes and measured supping no pizza and a few more punters, you could sort of tell these guys weren't on-top of customer service. The big 'M' duly arrived amidst noddings and 'hey that's big' comments from the others around and initial impressions were favourable but the other half who we should refer to as R, has never been inclined to eat pizza in her fingers. She tried to attract the attention of a young chap whose surly response was understandable given his native tongue appeared to be Portuguese - not a jot of english and really just employed to clear plates. Anyway all she wanted was a fork, but it soon became apparent that even R could convey bits of the big M to her mouth by rolling if up like a small but flexible piece of carpet. On inspection the underside of this 'contraption' was as white and soft as...... uncooked Pizza.! Mention of this elicited a shrug and undertaking to sort for future customers.
Foiled again, it was back to town for an afternoon tea but as they are want to do, half the population need to freshen up so off R went to the ladies except it was really a bathroom with shower, no soap unless you count the remains of a bottle of bodywash and windowsills strewen with dead insects. It's understood that blokes don't like cleaning toilets but this was just sad. Sad that Ron and his team brew good beer, have a great location but can't get past employing the family instead of a couple of decent hospo pros 'cause this business would fly with the right people at the helm.

“Great Beer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Ron took this business over from Mike a few years ago and since then it has gone from strength to strength. Mike's portfolio was limited to a couple of good beers but now Ron has turned that into over twenty different offerings across lots of different beer styles which, in my opinion, range from very good to great.
The brewery tour from Ron was delivered with an engaging enthusiasm for all things beery and with a revealing dose of enlightenment on how the beer industry works in New Zealand. Well worth the trip.

“A super venue”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

We were there with a group and were expected. What was an absolute pleasure was to find a carrot cake and scones with tea and coffee waiting for us on arrival . The beer tastings then went down well and we willingly reciprocated with some good sales. Our thanks for a great day!
