“Wonderful!!! Nothing but beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2012

Stayed here for our anniversary. Received a up grade on check in =) to a stonewell suite. Amazing accommodation!! The most comfortable bed with a fire, and my favourite heated tiles in the bathroom!!!!
The staff were extremely helpful and amazing - also at the bar/restaurant. Appelation, the restuarant, is brilliant as well. Definetly go for the degustation with matched wines.
The location of the Louise is great, in the middle of everything and right near Seppeltsfield.
The Barossa is definetly a place you should visit an this is the place to stay! Beautiful.
We will be back - sooner rather than later!!!

Room Tip: Stonewell suite - the extra bits and pieces. Fireplace, view of winery and outside shower

We travelled from Sydney for an Easter Weekend break - Be warned a lot of restaurants close on Good Friday!

I was struggling to find anywhere open and luckily Appellation was on the list and were open (we weren't staying at the Louise)

Lovely restaurant, great staff and a very personable and knowledgeable sommelier

From the “nude bloody mary” cocktail (get them to tell you how it is made!) when we arrived and the chefs suggestion tasting menu (we were able to swap one of the dishes for one listed on the a la carte menu so don’t be scared to ask?) everything was yum, well prepared and presented.

The place feels fine dining but is not “stuffy” and the staff are keen to help you enjoy the experience so we would highly recommend this restaurant.

Not cheap of course (around $150 each plus aperitifs) but well worth it and the food, matched wines and the experience overall made it a night to enjoy and remember.

The Louis offers a very comfortable stay for those visiting Barossa Valley. The hotel is actually right next to Peter Lehmann's Stonewell Shiraz vineyard, an inspiring view.
We had a Stonewell suite, beautifully furnished and with all amenities provided, but with a bit lack of space to put your luggage. Breakfast is standard served in your room, what better way to start your day in a slow pace. The Louise is conveniently located to visit the best wine makers of Barossa region within a few miles drive.
Sunset can be enjoyed on the hotel's terrace, overviewing yet another vineyard. The only element that we would see as an area of improvement is the pool: it is located in a somewhat dull corner next to the hotel, it is small and not really up to the same standard as the rest of the property.
The restaurant is of high standard, the winelist is even better obviously and it comes with expert guidance should you require that. Meals are prepared with care, although we felt that in a few instances quality of some dishes was not always to the same high level.
We would recommend The Louise to anyone looking for a very nice and comfortable hotel with a style and quality level fitting the exquisite wines that are made in its surroundings.

We stayed 2 nights at The Louise in suite 28. Entering the suite through a gate into a large private courtyard, I felt like we were in a world of our own. Suite 28 is large and beautifully appointed. It comprises of a king bed, sitting area, wood burner, dressing room, twin basin bathroom, spa bath, rain shower and the wonderful outdoor shower. All modern amenities are at your finger tips including multi-media, complimentary internet and an espresso maker, to name a few. There is a 2nd outdoor seating area at the front with a pleasant outlook over the vines.

A continental breakfast (selected the night prior) was delivered each morning to our suite.

The staff at The Louise were wonderful - from escorting us to our suite, and providing information about our room to helping us build out an itinerary of activities to do during our stay.

Location is great and you are spoiled with choice of boutique wineries or the bigger players.

If you are seeking understated luxury, privacy and a romantic escape, then I highly recommend The Louise.

We dined at the onsite restaurant on our first night, Appellation. We opted for the Autumn 5 course tasting menu with wine pairing. The food on the tasting menu was a mixed bag, 2 of the courses were OK, 2 were absolutely divine and the final course (desert) was beautifully presented but was a disaster to eat. Unfortunately the staff did not enquire as to why we had hardly touched the desert. We would have been more than happy to provide feedback if the question was asked. We loved the wine pairing, use of local produce and the staff were very knowledgeable. This is a casually elegant fine dining restaurant with a lovely ambience; however our experience was a little overshadowed by a winging baby at the table next to us.

We have just returned from our third Easter at The Louise, and again were absolutely delighted by the wonderful experience.

After two years (2010 and 2011) there with my fiancé, this year we decided to invite our families to come along too. We had a party of 8 and four villas (suites) booked, numbers 20-24.

There is plenty of space to have a nice relaxing private stay, while still able to walk between suites if you want to catch up with family and friends.

Each suite has a private court yard at the front, a change room, living area, dining area, bedroom and a large bathroom with his & hers basins, toilet, shower and bath. The bath is a spa bath and is really lovely -- it even comes complete with candles for romance and a rubber ducky for whimsy!

The Louise is located in the heart of the Barossa Valley, close to all the well known (and less known) vineyards, and two superb restaurants - Vintners in Angaston and 1918 in Tanunda.

On arrival this year we were all invited to a welcome drinks, where we met the chef from Appellation (the on-site restaurant) and the marketing manager, who talked to us about the history of Barossa and The Louise.

Thank you again to the wonderful staff at The Louise for such a superb stay.

Stayed for 4 nights, the rooms were cosy and private with an outdoor patio overlooking the vines. Service was great generally.

Appellation is the restaurant in The Louise and the food was outstanding although sometimes we felt a little rushed. They have a daily degustation menu which we picked both nights we ate there and also took the matching wine option.

It was average as far as value for money is concerned as it is quite expensive but we would stay there again.

First impression was a touch disappointing, I expected The Louise to look more inviting. I soon felt better once we were shown our suite. As an aside - Why don't hospitality staff introduce themself to their guests? I had to ask for the name of the very nice girl who gave us a tour of the suite. I really think it's especially important when you're staying at a small establishment. Isn't it just common courtesy? Anyway, the suite is extremely comfortable, gorgeous flop into sofa, exquisite bedding and a bathroom that only a woman could have designed. Everything a woman needs has been thought of throughout. I really liked the padded coat hangers, nice touch. The sauna and pool area looked great, as the weather wasn't too good we didn't try out the loungers around the pool. (would have liked a lounger on one of the two private courtyards) The sauna didn't work properly so we gave up after 2 separate tries. We did report it and the maintenance were going to fix it. Breakfast was nice, it's best to have the staff set your table for you. The egg pie was delicious, but I didn't like either of the muesli on offer and the cheese was so bland,. All in all, breakfast could be better. Our 3 night package included the Apellation restaurant which I'll review separately. Would we go back - for sure!
