“Loved our stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

Well like the review from 7/17 our comments our almost identical. Our trip started and ended here. The hotel is tucked away but our taxi and rental car place knew exactly where it was. We opted for the 3 course dinner the last night and wished we had our first night there. The amazingly multi talented and completely charming Elizabeth prepared our 3 courses. The food was absolutely delicious. My wife and I were blown away at how helpful Elizabeth was and actually the entire staff. It is true there is no a/c but it wasnt advertised or even needed. The grounds of the hotel are beautifully landscaped. The rooms are large and clean. The lodge has a quaint charm to it. If you are looking for a great place to stay that isnt expensive and close to the airport, then you must stay here. I dont believe you will be disappointed with the stay, and you definitely wont be disappointed with the charming Elizabeth. Scott and Pam

We are very glad that you stayed twice with us and you are content with the Service, we can’t be more satisfied when our customers dine in our hotel and they reply with the most amazing feedbacks like the best food on the trip and the best they ever tried. Our staff will always be willing to go out of their way to make from your stay the most memorable experience. We are blessed with our spectacular views of the valley, surrounded by nature, near the city and not far from the airport. We hope that this good experience encourage others travelers from this forum to come and enjoy it.

We chose this hotel based on reviews and the close proximity to the international airport -only 15 minutes away. It was marvelous!! It is gated, a security guard is on duty, it is up and above the city so its quiet and the landscaping is gorgeous, but the interior of the hotel is just wonderful.
The décor is a mixture of modern and ancient African pieces in the lobby. room was comfortable and clean, very nice. The service was outstanding. Elizabeth checked us in, showed us our room, fixed out drinks, made our dinner. They don't advertise a restaurant but meals are available and we had one the best dinners -appetizer, main course and dessert-that we have tasted in a long time anywhere. She did it all. She speaks English, Italian and Spanish and is studying Mandarin. What a Gal! Very talented and smart and we had a long conversation with her on all sorts of subjects. I hope they appreciate what an asset she is to this hotel. The hotel sits on at least 3 acres -my guess-and all landscaped, big swimming pool, lots of flowers abound.

Room Tip: Second floor gives a great view off the large patio of the city.

We are more than glad that you had a great stay and were overwhelmed with our atmosphere, we are conveniently located near from and to the airport, a short drive if you know the way and if you do not, we suggest to request us for transportation. We have open and free grounds where you can enjoy a great view of the mountains and the city. We have decorated the hotel with the most meticulous pieces from everywhere, Africa, Bali´s furniture and locally, don’t hesitate to ask for the history that our collection has. Like always our staff is willing to make from your stay the most enjoyable experience, from little advises to the most exquisite meals served in our patio. We hope that your great experience encourage others travelers to come and enjoy like you did.

This hotel was very lovely. It is located in Santa Ana, a neighboring city of San Jose. The hotel is tucked away on a small hill, which gives it a very private, safe, and novel feeling. Additionally, the hotel is priced extremely reasonably and the premises are well-kept and gorgeous. The community areas (i.e. lobby, decks, bar area, outside patio) are extremely "homey" and wonderful.
The staff are seriously the nicest people you will ever meet. They go out of your way to accommodate you and are all extremely caring and kind. They do not treat its guests like "a dime a dozen" and truly go out of their way to get to know you and make you feel at home.
The hotel rooms do not have air conditioning, however it did not bother us one bit. The windows are left open with screens covering each window. If you want, you can also request a large fan from the front desk. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and have a very "Costa Rican" feel to them. They are not westernized hotel rooms but have a lot of character and really emote the character of the country.
Overall, this hotel is absolutely wonderful. The staff, the premises, and the rooms were fantastic. If you are looking for an authentic, family-feel, very reasonably priced hotel for your stay, I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone. Fantastic hotel!!

We stayed here on our last night in Costa Rica after reading the positive reviews, but were quite disappointed. First the good - the staff here are phenomenal, especially Elizabeth. Dedicated, helpful, friendly and always willing to go the extra mile. We decided to have dinner at the hotel and the meal was one of the best we had during our whole trip. In addition, the price was great and the hotel was only about a 20 minute drive from the airport.

Unfortunately, the positive comments end here. First of all, the hotel is extremely difficult to find. We drove by the poorly marked entrance 3 times before finding it and that was with the help of a GPS. Better directions should be given and a clear sign or two posted on the street would help. Secondly, the rooms themselves are rather dated and not too clean. We found several ants in our bathroom (which was far from sparkling)and throughout the room. Also, the rooms do not have air conditioning or a fan, and the windows are not nearly enough to cool down the place at all. In addition, the bathrooms also only had commercial-type hand soap from a dispenser by the sink, not too accessible from the shower.

Overall, the hotel has some potential with a great view of the city, dedicated staff and a relaxing vibe, but the place itself could use some updating.

We are very glad that you really enjoyed your stay, even though your split appreciation, after reading your review seems that you were more pleased and positive than disappointed which is not the most fair title for your review, Like always our staff will be willing to make from your stay the most enjoyable possible, our great price like it´s been said has modest amenities but the necessary. This is a tropical weather and when the rains start the tiny animals look for a dry place and that is what could happened if you were staying in a room on the ground floor when you saw a few ants. We don’t advertise nor sell rooms with a/c, our weather is an ideal temperature, it is on average fresh, fans can by requested if you feel like need it. Hope that this clarifies any doubts others travelers might have about us.

We only stayed here for one night and heard good reviews. However, we were disappointed with a few things. First of all the staff was very friendly which was great and the room were spacious and comfortable. But the bathroom was not very clean (hair on the floor and dirt) and we ran out of toilet paper almost immediately. There is no air conditioning which is fine but there is not even a fan to help circulate the air which made the rooms uncomfortably hot.
On another note this place was hard to find-a better address or GPS navigation would be very helpful and we drove around confused for about 20 minutes before we by chance stumbled on it.

We are glad as well for your appreciation even tough your short stay and that you had issues, if we would have been noticed before our staff would have helped you so much and solved your little inconvenient . The a/c is not a must though the weather most of the time is fresh and rooms have ventilation although we don’t advertise or sell rooms as we had a/c. What is true and is not the exception in every review is that our staff will always be willing to make the most comfortable and relaxing expedience. We hardly recommend contacting us for further instructions of how to get to the hotel, it is not recommended to drive if you don’t know well the place driving at night makes it even more challenging, driving by yourself to pretty much of the hotels without a gps is counterproductive and a taxi will be the best option.

As soon as we stepped into the room, we were awed. Huge beds, spacious bathrooms, and a very good energetic set-up of furniture and decoration. There was a small tv, beautifully folded towels with flowers on top and an amazing views out of all the windows including the bathroom window. We would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!

Located in a Coffe farm surrounded by nature, birds and peace.
This place has only 12 rooms so it is always not crowded, it has a nice pool, from the second floor the panorama is amazing overlooking part of the Central Valley and the pacific coast at the distance
