“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2014

The Hotel Luisiana was a perfect place to come and stay while taking care of business in San Jose. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the on site restaurant, the food was great. The hotel was recommended to us by friends and they were right it is a great place to stay. I would like to see more sitting area in the third floor rooms that do not have any outdoor area to sit . A nice easy chair or two. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Would recommend to friends and family

Hotel was nice and clean. Morning breakfast was good.
The hotel staff were helpful and helped us with information regarding various tours we were interested in.
It's perfect if you have a car for travelling around.

The Hotel Luisiana was nearly perfect as a place to stay while exploring areas around San Jose. We stayed in a kitchen suite for 5 nights. The bathroom was lovely and so was the bed. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. Most of our needs were met for the cooking of some of our meals, but we would recommend the kitchen sink be leakproofed, and a few more utensils be provided such as a pancake flipper, and large spoons. There is a swimming pool which is lovely, but could do with some shaded areas and flowering bushes to make it more inviting for lounging around. We returned for our final night in Costa Rica and were able to utilize the van and driver for an early am airport departure. It felt like coming home after exploring other areas for the previous 5 days and the staff kindly allowed us to leave our big suitcase in a secured area until we returned. We ate a really nice meal in the small Italian-style restaurant We would definitely recommend this place to our family and friends.

Room Tip: Rooms on the main level are convenient for those who do not wish to climb up and down with luggage.

The Luisiana is a superb hotel in a quiet location. We stayed there the first two nights of our trip to Costa Rica and the last night. The rooms are clean, the beds fantastic, the plumbing first class, and the staff are super nice. I especially appreciated the intelligent, thoughtful attention of the desk staff and the competent courtesy of Yuri Paz, the shuttle driver.

Hotel Luisiana is charming, peaceful, clean and well-cared-for. The staff was extremely attentive and Yuri, the hotel's taxi driver, was an absolute gem. Fresh, delicious coffee is available in the lobby around the clock. WiFi is in every room, but unfortunately only a couple of English-speaking channels on television. Most travelers don't spend a lot of time watching television anyhow, so it wasn't a big deal. The little restaurant in the hotel focuses on Italian fare, and I had a couple of truly excellent meals...salmon and pumpkin-filled ravioli were both outstanding and served with complimentary sauces. Salads were fresh, crisp and tasty. A variety of wines and other beverages are available. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay there again.

Room Tip: I stayed on the third floor, and it was quiet and comfortable.

This is an area motel. The place is designed for short stays(2-3 daysmax)..not a week!. Very limited amenities and expensive food.I would not recommend this place to anyone.
will say for the most part the staff was generally friendly, but outside of this, This "hotel"has very little to offer.

I have stayed in this hotel a number of times. The rooms are always clean, and the quality is comparable to a Best Western or Holiday Inn of Costa Rica, which can cost around $200 per night. Clean and comfortable!!
