Hotel insisted on having us prepay their transportation ($40 round trip from airport), big mistake!! Taxis charge about the same and there are plenty at the airport. Every single person that was on our flight was picked up by other hotels with their employees holding signs identifying themselves. I had to pay a taxi driver to use his cell phone to call Hotel Luisiana to pick us up. The driver picked us up on a small, dirty compact SUV (see picture), not the advertised new van they prominently display on their website. I have yet to receive an apology (doubtful I will) because the person at the front desk was indifferent bordering on the confrontational. Airlines post their time of arrival on their websites, I doubt this hotel even knows how to coordinate properly. I also triple confirmed our time of arrival with the night staff the night before.
On the plus the driver was courteous and cautious.
On the minus side the hotel is undergoing additional construction. The rooms are showing their age as well. The pictures on their website were taken at night and/or were Photoshopped. See my pictures! The difference is literally between night and day.

The place is very nice. It was about $40/night for my stay. It was a Queen size bed and very comfortable. It had a kitchen and a wonderful shower. The bed was adorned with some towel swans. I was traveling with a friend, but would be better suited for a couple. It was about $26 USD from the airport using a taxi and about 20-30 minute ride. The hotel staff was great. We were greeted with a smile and some stories. I wish I could have stayed longer but there is really nothing to do in San Jose. It's a great pass over place. It has a computer with internet at the front and in each room. The computer and internet in the front runs faster than the computer in the rooms. I was also greeted with a lovely note from the owner. The only con was that I stayed on the first floor and the second floor can be a little loud. Overall, it was very pleasant and I'd stay here again.

This hotel will make you feel at home. Great food in the restaurant too. Rooms are huge and have wood floors and bathtubs for two. There's a reasonable mini-bar inside the room along with flat screens and a computer to use. Most comfortable hotel I've ever stayed in. Thanks!

Perfect place to begin and end your trip to Costa Rica. My wife and I have stayed here on two seperate occasions and could not be any more pleased. It has now become or starting off point every time we visit Costa RIca. The hotel is relaible, convinient and best of all very cozy. Every room comes with a large bathroom, flat screen TV, Mac computer and fridge. The staff was always very friendly and helpful with any questions we asked. Best of all was the free international calls from your room, always helpful when you want to let your family know you arrived safe. There is nothing else to say then to try it.. We did and we loved it..
