“Crap expensive hotel in the middle of nowhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

The hotel was expensive, the breakfast was terrible and sloppy, the staff couldn't care less- i would not advisee anyone wasting your time or money staying there. The room was fairly adequate, but everything else totally put me off. Almost £100 for a night. what a rip off. Disgusted.

Room Tip: Don't stay at this hotel.

This hotel far exceeded the expectation of any 2 star hotel, in fact I would consider this better then most 4 star hotels in Paris.
To start, the staff were extremely friendly, check in was convenient and the owner delightfully offered an upgrade.
The rooms on the third floor are newly renovated, the setting is great, white varnished floors along with with a rustic setting, washrooms clean with a great stand up shower. The room has a great view of the mountain tops and overlooks the small city centre which is surrounded by bars and restaurants. In terms of the restaurant, search no more, the hotel has a restaurant which in my opinion is 5 star. The menu is well priced and the selection in terms of French cuisine is impeccable.
Bottom line, if your looking for a weekend getaway, would definitely recommend the stay based on location, value and quality.

Room Tip: Third floor, newly renovated.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2011

We stayed here for one night during August 2011 with some hesitation after reading some of the reviews on Trip Advisor. However, we found the hotel more than adequate and comfortable for our needs. Although the room we were given was on the small side its décor facilities were good. The only major draw back was that there was no air conditioning (as is the same with a lot of hotels in this area) and temperatures had reached the high 30s during the day.

The hotel has no car park so if you are travelling with a car make sure you book a car parking space in the small garage which is situated some 300 metres behind the hotel.

We dined in the hotel restaurant and found the food and cooking to be of high quality and totally unpretentious. We both dined from the more than adequate menu de jour. There was also a very good wine list.

The town of Embrun is well worth a visit. During the period when we were there the town was holding a medieval festival through the narrow streets. There is also a small provincial food market held each Saturday again we worth a visit.

We would definately visit again.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a superiour room and book car parking if required.

We came for 2 nights in a family room, but stayed for two more. Great room, modern, comfortable, beautifully decorated. The first morning we found the market just outside the hotel, great! Dinner outside on the terrace, great meals. We went to Mont Dauphin, spent a day at the lake, we took a great walk, something to please everyone of us.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone!
