“Great tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2013

You get to walk above the production line and see the cars being made. They also have a video explaining the entire car-making process. The tour guide spoke good English and was very informative. Part of the tour includes visiting the museum but I don't think you can visit the museum alone since it's well inside the Mazda Factory campus.
We also visited the Toyota Factory in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture and we thought that it was more impressive than the Mazda factory. But if you're in Hiroshima I highly recommend visiting the Mazda Factory.

English tour is ONLY available at 10am and the museum is located in a small town that there is nothing special you can do or visit there before/after the tour. The English guide was a bit hard to understand and the tour was rushed. We spent less than 15 minutes on the actual factory floor and we were only shown 1/4 of the production line rather than the full assembling process.

Suggest to go only if you need to burn free time or love Mazda very much.

“For fans of Mazda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

If you are in Hiroshima this is something a little different to do. Mazda offers an english tour each morning, just remember to make a reservation prior to your visit. The Museum is interesting and the walk through the factory a highlight.

“Really interesting if you have the time”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

Like a lot of the reviews, I notice one of us in the family think this is a great idea (in this case it was me) and the others just go along, and then... everybody really finds it interesting.

It is a real insight to get to go inside this huge Japanese factory. Most of the tour moves very quickly (a couple of earlier reviews give good summaries). But the highlight is definitely watching the production line. And here the tour gives you plenty of time to watch the workers and robots assemble Mazda cars.

Free English tour at 10am. Reserve in advance by e-mail. To do it, just click the website link on this page. Select the English version of the Mazda page and you will see where to click for reservations. They will also provide simple directions. It is a five minute train ride and five minute walk from Hiroshima station. (By the way, I wouldn't try to go to Miyajima the same day unless you just want a quick look. In the afternoon, go see the Peace park and museum or something like that).

For most people, it is not a must see. But if you have the time (the tour itself is 90 minutes) it is well worth it.

“Free Zoom Zoom!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

If you are in Hiroshima, don't forget the fascinating visit to the Mazda car factory. It is free as well!

Just get on a train at JR Hiroshima, use your JR pass and five minutes later you are there.

You have to book the tour beforehand, though. This can be done by email.
The English language tour starts at 1000hrs.

You get off at Mukainada station, walk a short distance and you get to the reception area. From there a charming hostess will take you across the vast site to the museum by coach. On the way you cross the biggest privately owned bridge and also get a glimpse of the port where the cars are loaded on to ships,

There is a short video presentation and then you can see the museum which contains one of every model produced by Mazda including motorcycles.

You are then taken to the production line where you get a glimpse of robots at work
The whole thing is mind boggling and surreal. The robots, like the Japanese, are polite to each other and constantly bow!
Unfortunately, photography is not allowed in the production line area.
Back at reception you can buy souvenirs such as T shirts and key tags or get snacks or drinks.

Afterwards, there is plenty of time to get back to Hiroshima and visit Miyajima!
