“Excellent service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2014

my review backs up what has been outlined in other reviews. Excellent service with a family feel. All staff make you feel very welcome and nothing is a problem.
Snowlines is well positioned half way between echoland and happo and is a 5 to 10 minute walk to each village.
Steve goes out of his way to make your stay enjoyable (although ellis would have enjoyed his stay even more if bundy rum could be found).
We had 2 large king singles with an ensuite in our room and was great for the amount of time that we spent in the room.
Staying in the lodge was better than a self contained apartment due to the social aspect around the bar and meeting other guests. Steve and rob drove us to different places and even dropped us at the skifields just to make the trip a bit more enjoyable.
There is 7 or 8 ski fields that are no more than 25 minutes away with 2 slopes within walking distance. Snowlines has a bus pickup out the front of the lodge for some of the other fields.
Would strongly recommend staying at snowlines due to location, price and excellent service.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at Snowlines Lodge. The rooms and beds were comfortable (beautiful view from ours too), onsen was relaxing and the food (and wines) delicious. It is worth eating in at least a couple of times to sample Sarasa's great cooking but there are good places (Zen and Gravity Worx in particular) to eat out at in walking distance too. The bus stop to the slopes was right outside the door so was hassle free. What stood out most to me though was the kindness, interest and hospitality shown to us by Steve and Sarasa. They helped us through numerous recommendations for restaurants, onsens etc and went out of their way for us to help arrange alternate accomodation / plans for us when our planned accomodation for after Hakuba was cancelled unexpectedly due to the snow storms. Nothing was too much trouble for them which we were so thankful for. Oh yes, and for 2 very fussy coffee drinkers, Steve's coffee's are the BEST !

Stephen and Sarasa (lodge hosts) are the nicest people you'll ever meet. It's a very clean lodge with spacious rooms and there's a great friendly atmosphere at night down at the bar. Snowlines is only a 100 metre walk to the only western burger bar in hakuba....so if your like me and fussy about your food it's not far to go plus snowlines has it's very own dinner menu which was just awesome eating in its self.
Getting around is very easy as the free shuttle bus stops right out their front door and it's a short 15 minute or so walk to happo one. Even thou I went by myself the friendly nature of the lodge and other guests made it seem that I wasn't by myself. Suffice to say I'll be taking a few friends with me next year and staying at Snowlines Lodge Hakuba.
Best place to stay hands down and I can't wait until next year. I'll be rebooking very soon.

What a wonderful place to stay in Hakuba.
Myself and 2 mates spent 1 week at Snowlines Lodge during Jan/Feb of 2014 as part of skiing trip. We didn't have the greatest weather or snow conditions for the duration of our stay but that was no dampener on out time at Snowlines Lodge. The location is perfect for an indipendant traveler. We had a car for getting around which was a great convenience but certainly not a necessity as there is a bus stop right out the front and another just 100m down the road.
Steve and Sarasa were quite exemplary hosts! From the way they presented the lodge to the endless assistance on offer. No request was too much and often we didn't even need to ask! Sarasa's cooking was nothing short of spectacular, much like the scenery that frames the Hakuba valley, and her personal restaurant recommendations were straight from the top draw! Steve was always happy to offer advice on snow related matters including a repair shop for a damaged boot of mine.
All in all our stay was magnificent in spite of the weather and we will definitely be back!

We have stayed at Snowlines 3 years now & each year it gets better, which is saying something as it was amazing to start with! Sarasa & Steve are wonderful, warm, friendly hosts where nothing is too much trouble. Advice about where to hire skis, best skiing for the day, good restaurants ( food is great at the lodge too if you're too tired to venture out), help with onward trips etc....all just comes naturally to them. Lodge is very comfortable and the onsen such a bonus after a long day on the slopes. Wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else, thanks Steve & Sarasa for making our stay perfect...again!!

Room Tip: Ensuites are great, but not essential.

What a wonderful place to stay on our first ski trip to Japan! Stephen and Sarasa are extraordinarily good hosts and create a wonderful atmosphere in this lovely lodge. Couldn't fault it - great location, impeccably clean, ideal facilities, delightful onsen. Great to be able to flop in the lounge (and watch the Aussie Open Tennis!), really enjoyed meeting other guests (a real mix) at breakfast or at the end of the day in the lounge or bar. Excellent access to the resorts and restaurants and really valued Stephen and Sarasa's knowledge of the local area. Nothing is too much trouble for this pair and we thoroughly enjoyed our very happy time at Snowlines.

My boyfriend and I spent 2 fantastic weeks at Snowlines and it truly was a home away from home. Everyone that works at the lodge is so friendly and helpful, whether it's advice about where to go, what to eat or even just someone to chat to at the bar with a cold beer. The lodge has a wonderful atmosphere, it seems to attract like minded people and every evening new friendships were formed at the bar or on the comfy couches.

Steve are Sarasa are absolutely wonderful and Sarasa is possibly the cutest and most lovely lady we've ever met. Her meals are fantastic and she's a joy to talk to. Steve went above and beyond to help us out and we couldn't appreciate it more. They've really nailed being hosts.

The rooms are comfortable with big warm feather down blankets and heating. Our room was newly renovated with an ensuite but the shared onsens (separate male and female) were the best way to unwind after a big day on the snow.

Locations is great, easy to access echoland and happo and a Lawsons just 50 or so meters away for snacks and buses to any resort.

Thank you so much Steve and Sarasa, see you in 50 weeks.
