“The interesting Revolver (Veggie) Big Breakie”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

This is one of the places in Sydney to treat yourself and your loved ones to an interesting breakfast.

I was on a quest to enjoy some of Sydney's best breakfasts. One of the places that I had shortlisted and had visited was Revolver, at 291 Annandale Street. On my way to Revolver, I was treated with a relaxing view from the Bicentennial Park.

I guess I was in such a great mood for breakfast that I ordered two servings of breakfast!

My first order was the Oyster Mushroom Bruschera with scrambled egg, fresh ricotta and wilted spinach which costs AUD$14.50 each. I love the oyster mushroom which went very well with the egg and the wilted spinach. I ordered the watermelon and passion fruit juice to go along with the bruschera.

My second order was the Revolver Veggie Big Breakie. This was one of Revolver's specialities. If you are there, the tip is to order the Revolver Big Breakie or the Revolver Veggie Big Breakie. The latter is suitable for vegetarian. This speciality is served in a cast iron pan. The tomato base with home-made baked beans makes the Revolver Big Breakie a very interesting breakfast. The Revolver Veggie Big Breakie comes with hummus, avocado, mashed beetroot, mushroom and tomato. At AUD$16.50 each, I felt that the Revolver Veggie Big Breakie is value-for-money.

This place felt as if there is a strong community spirit. It looks as if this is one of the favourite places for food for the community living in the suburb of Annandale.

HOW TO FIND YOUR WAY TO REVOLVER:
1) Take the Metro Light Rail services and alight at Rozelle Bay station.
2) From the Light Rail station at Rozelle Bay, find your way to 291 Annandale St. Annandale Street runs parallel to Johnston St and Piper La.

“great experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

Went there with my partner on a recommendation from a friend and was really impressed. The decor was so relaxing which gave it that homely feel. We had the lamb bruschetta and the lamb stew and both meals were to die for. Coffee was decent too. Hopefully i'll be able to go back soon to try more of their menu.

“One of best experience, great coffee and excellent service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2012 via mobile

We went there on a Sunday afternoon, very easy to park, nice area and the wait was not bad.
The staffs were extremely friendly and service was fast and professional. We've travelled around Europe, US and Asia and this little cafe provided probably the best service we've ever had.
The girl who took our order ordered us a cappucino when we actually said chai, and whem she knew she made a mistake she immediately apologized and gave us the chai. We accidentally spilled half of our coffee and when the staff saw the empty cup and the mess, he cleaned it up for us and offered us a replacement.
The food was quite good although not superb. The atmosphere and the service made up for it.
This is definitely a gem. And this is the kind of places that deserve tips from customers.

“The passion for great coffee and outstanding food really shows”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2012

Hidden away in Annandale this cafe is fantastic. Coffee is excellent. Food is interesting and fresh. Servings are very generous. The home made cakes are sensational. Parking is easy.. a bonus in the inner west. A very busy place but the food, service and welcoming staff make it worth any wait.
The space is small but very inviting and Interesting. I regularly go to this cafe and it never disappoints. Congratulations are in order for providing this this gem in a competitive cafe area.

“Disappointing - long wait for nothing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

There seems to be more hype to this place than it really deserves. We tried to like it and in fact went twice as we thought that maybe we didn't quite get what was so special about this place but both times were equally disappointing.

It is a cute little shop tucked away in the residential area . It has a rather quaint, old charm feel to the place and i find the old porcelain plates used to be very appealing and they do not match the plates - in fact it looks like every plate they use is slightly different which adds to the charm factor.

However, because it is a cute and rather small shop, it has very little seating. This is one of the reasons there is a long wait for seats especially on weekends. Tables are placed very close together and this is unfortunate as it spoils the atmosphere of what could have been a very homely place.

As the turnover takes a long time, waiting time can be up to 45 minutes or so (on both occasions we went - it was around 45 minutes). So do be prepared to wait.

Here comes the problem - after that long wait, you would expect good food. I have to say it was very disappointing. Tried the big brekkie, the cheeseburger and a special they had that day and while there was nothing wrong with the food, there was nothing great either. Coffees were average as well.

What was definitely spectacular though was their hot chocolate. Better than even those served by the chocolaterias.
