“Kangaroo cooked perfectly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

I visited the Lakefront Bistro on 24th May 2013. There were 6 of us, all family members, who had gone to the Lakes Tavern for a drink after a funeral. The staff in the bar overlooking the lake were just lovely. We enjoyed a drink for our beloved uncle and one staff member actually knew him because used to eat there regularly. This staff member brought us a plate of finger food that was available at the bar during the happy hour, even catering for one of the family who is vegetarian. We asked if we could book for dinner that night and she arranged for a table for all of us to be ready as soon as the Bistro opened. I ordered kangaroo. One of my favourite meats but it has to be cooked just right or it will be tough. The meat turned out to be cooked just right, slightly pink still and very tender. It was served with medeteranean vegetables and was just delicious. The size of the meal was also more than adequate so I decided not to try the salad bar as well so am unable to comment on this. Other members of our family had the crumbed veal and fish with the salad bar, vegetarian rissotto, and a stir fry. All meals were large servings and everyone was pleased with their choices from the large menu. Coffee was also served to us after our meal. The service, the nice outlook, the lovely meal and the friendliness of the staff made this occasion a memorable one due to the nature of our visit in the first place. Thank you to all the staff on that night especially one lovely lady who knew our Uncle Ray.

“Oh That Fish !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

The large choice of how we liked our fish cooked was amazing. Being in a party of nine with diverse views as to the best way to have fish and chips we were not disappointed in the delivery of satisfaction for everyone of us.

“Could be better....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

We attended a birthday luncheon at this restaurant and although the view was lovely, the food was pretty ordinary and the noise levels intolerable. We were seated in the level closest to the water, which was nice in that respect, the open window especially appreciated, however with no acoustics to muffle the noise, the plates and cutlery clanked on the hard tables and the sound bounced off the hard floors. It made even hearing one another difficult at times. It is so important to remember that people go out to BE with one another and relate, not just watch the other chew because it is too noisy to talk. Since I'm on a roll here, it might be added that there were several servers standing around doing nothing while patrons carried drinks from the bar and went looking for an extra fork, salt, etc. At one point, a server came and took one plate from the table leaving many others. You have to wonder....this place has super potential, it's just not being met.

“Crowd Pleaser”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

I had the daunting task of planning a significant and large family birthday lunch that would please everyone. It had to be somewhere with a view, good air con and good affordable meals that included a salad/veg bar. The Lakes Resort Bistro ticked all of these boxes. :)
On top of all that the staff were helpful and positive, the atmosphere was modern, spacious and clean. There was also a vast lounge area with a view where we could all meet and have pre lunch drinks. The food was fantastic especially with the vegetable/salad bar. It all worked out beautifully and put everyone in a feel good mood.
Our only slight disappointment was that we requested a table with a view only to be positioned near the back wall. They justified it by saying that you could still see the lake. Thankfully everything else was so good that this was quickly forgotten by our guests. Do try to make an effort to find the lake side back door to take in the view and check out the activities on the lake.
Thank you to everyone at the Lakefront Bistro for helping to give my mother what she said was the best birthday of her life!

“Very rude staff/ management with very unhygienic facilities”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2012 via mobile

For a few weeks a few of our friends with children had been meeting for coffee and brunch once a week. During these few weeks we had very rude and inefficient staff who were never accommodating towards us. During our most recent visit management informed us that they did not appreciate small children in their facility (it was supposed to be a family friendly bistro). We were also informed by the head management that their facilities especially the floor is kept in an unhygienic manner and is not a place for any child to be in contact with. If a facility can openly admit to having such poor cleanliness procedures in place I would be terribly concerned with the state of the the food they serve and the accommodation they provide. I would warn anyone with children to avoid this restaurant as there are many lovely family friendly and hygienic restaurants in the local area!
