I was in Estelie for three nights and stayed two nights at Hotel Los Arcos.
The first night was in their premium suite, which was approximately $90 US. It was a very large, open suite with a changing room, large bathroom with two sinks and a shower with body sprayers in addition to the shower head. The room, in addition to a king size bed, had a small lounge area with chairs and a tv and a balcony over looking the street.
On the second night, we were moved to a smaller suite on the ground floor (the premium suite was reserved for that night). This suite was much more basic, a two double beds and a bathroom (which was much more basic, sink, shower and toilet). The window looked out in the courtyard of the hotel and was approximately $60 per night.
Both rooms were clean and simply decorated, although the premium suite had more decorations, including a stocked book shelf. The rooms were both stocked with the standard soap and shampoo but also included toothbrush, razor for shaving and a small bowl of candy. In the premium room, the quality of the items were better but it was a nice touch in both rooms to have the extras.
The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful, we had arrived late night on the night before Hipica (unaware that it was taking place) and although the first night we arrived in town they had no where for us to stay, they did call around to other hotels in an attempt to find us somewhere and when we returned the next morning, they were happy to accommodate us and kept our bags for us while our room was being prepared to we could explore Estelie. I saw others say that they had items stolen, that was not my experience, although had I read those reviews earlier maybe I would have thought twice about leaving our bags behind. I did, as a matter of common sense, keep one bag with me that held the stuff that would be worth stealing such as money, passport, ipod, kindle. But again, that's just common sense.
There is a breakfast buffet included, standard fare (in my experience) for a Nica breakfast buffet, good but not exceptional.
I have traveled fairly extensively in Nicaragua, and this hotel is above average. It has a great location (very central and easy to explore the rest of the city from), very helpful staff and is above average for cleanliness.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Los Arcos Hotel was set up in 2004 thanks to a training project led by "Fundacion Familias Unidas." Thanks to the work done by the brickwork students from the Foundation's Training Centre, they have rebuilt and extended the Training Centre and they have given birth to what nowadays can be called "Escuela de Hosteleria." The earnings obtained from this school are invested in the rest of social projects carried out by the Foundation in Esteli. ... more less
