“Chalet machu pichu esprit ski..”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

This is our first Christmas away with the family and 20mth grandson. We were joined in the apartment by another family and very much enjoyed each other's company at meal times! However, we were not informed during the daytime (our home for the week) would be taken over by two sittings of 10+ children per sitting, the children were noisy & poorly supervised between 12-2pm! We felt that this was very much an invasion of our privacy especially when you walk in to find children jumping over the sofas when there are toys left about from our grandson or he is still asleep following a morning nap, and woken by noise! The staff & management are very young and seem not to be able to grasp the fact when a holiday is purchased and the full facts about your chalet have not been relayed why you get stressed! The ski passes were delivered just about on time during breakfast on the Monday morning, late in other cases some even missed ski school. We unfortunately lost a ski pass on our 3rd day in and when reported we were asked for the serial number?? Due to the rush & confusion with the handout of these passes, we were not told we needed to make a note of our ski pass serial number! The only help they offered was - 'we will help you fill out an insurance form..or pay another 140euros for a replacement!' A HOLIDAY TO FORGET AND ONE NEVER TO BE REPEATED WITH ESPRIT....Chalet maids Flora and Rebecca were fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely lovely girls..

Room Tip: Beware when booking with esprit ski!!!

Stayed in one of the chalets within chalet altitude on a group ski holiday. I think it was chalet Hermine, booked through inghams. Chalet was on ground floor.

I had double ensuite room off main lounge not very private and very very small. Constantly tripping over each other could never get changed at same time.

Host was good chalet was keep clean and tidy, and food good plenty wine on offer.

Left our ski as were supposed to be picked up by fetchmyluggage.com through inghams and never to be seen again, and issue never resolved. Gutted!

Chalet Altitude is well located. There is an ESF office in the Chalet Altitude building and a small supermarket right next door. It is situated only 100m from a button lift that takes you up to the main pistes - and alongside which you can ski back to within 100m of the chalet at the end of the day.

However if you have beginners in your group they'll have to take 2 lifts and walk (5-10 mins in total) as the button lift is very steep and not suitable for beginners.

The apartments are spacious by French standards and the swimming pool is great (very warm) to relax after a day's skiing. Unfortunately the sauna was out of service while we were there.
Luckily most of the apartments face the considerably more easy on the eye Arc 1950 rather than the rest of Arc 2000!

The main problem is noise. Esprit Ski have their main meeting point for kids lessons directly in front of the Chalet. Why they do it here and not at the bottom of the piste like all other ski schools is beyond me. At 8.30 am on the first day we were woken by the Rep from Esprit shouting and screaming playground style chants (to gee up the kids) at the top of his voice. This went on for 30 minutes non-stop: despite three different people complaining from their windows / balconies, the Rep refused to stop.

Having got dressed and gone downstairs to complain directly to the Rep, his Esprit Manager and the staff at Chalet Altitude, the noise finally abated. Frankly I am stunned at the lack of professionalism and consideration of the Esprit Rep and baffled as to how they thought making this much noise at 8.30 in the morning right in front of the apartments was acceptable.

The noise was at a lower level for the rest of the week, but still enough to wake you in you are a light sleeper. Conversely in the evenings we heard no noise from the pub.

Because of this - and only because of this - I would seriously think twice about going back to Chalet Altitude. The Management of the Chalet should take this point seriously and come to some kind of agreement with Esprit to reduce noise levels.

Apart from this, we had a great time, with only two slight criticisms:

Compared with many resorts in Austria, a lot of the chair lifts across Les Arcs are old and uncovered, but we didn't experience many queues during our stay (Easter week).

Apres ski in Arcs 2000 seemed pretty non existant the week we visited, including the Crazy Fox pub underneath Chalet altitude, which seemed to be pretty deserted each afternoon / evening.

Room Tip: Rooms that do not face the road (and Esprit meeting point) are a must!

We booked last minute with Inghams and stayed in the Chalet Julien which is part of the Chalet Altitude residence. It was our first catered chalet experience and we were not disappointed. There were two families and two couples in our chalet and it was a very sociable holiday. We got to know each other very quickly and would eat evening meals together.
Our chalet host Bea was an excellent cook and we had fresh cake waiting for us each afternoon when we returned from the slopes. Then, it was aperitifs and hors d'oeuvres and then a four course meal.
The chalet was very warm and very close to the button lift that takes you up to the slopes. Our room was a twin and it was basic, with a wardrobe on the landing (which was poorly lit and so needed a torch to see inside). We had a private bathroom, right opposite our room and we were concerned that this would be a problem, but it was not. The rooms were very warm, we had to turn the radiators down but once we did that, the temperature was quite comfortable.
Les Arc 2000 is quite small but there are a number of restaurants and bars and two pubs there.
We booked the chalet because of the swimming pool and so we made sure we used it every day. The pool was warm and got very busy and be warned that there is only a unisex changing room. The locks on the showers don't work so you need someone to stand guard whilst you're in there. Apart from that, it is a nice way to relax the muscles after a day's skiing.
I would highly recommend this chalet and travelling with Inghams.

First time with Esprit (travelled with 6 year old son), and will not travel with anyone else from now on until the kids are older. They really were that good! The chalet is fine, nice large living/dining space with fantastic views to Arc 1950 and the mountains beyond.
Our bedroom was small but adequate, and spotlessly clean. Pity there wasn't a shower curtain or screen for some reason, but the bath was OK.
Food was plentiful and of excellent quality (Esprit put the chalet hosts through a 'cooking at altitude' course). The chalet girls really do work their backsides off.
Location is good, virtually door to door skiing. Crazy Fox pub in the complex does a great happy hour which coincides with the kids tea (which Esprit supervises) so you can sneak off for a crafty few!
Swimming pool is a good size and very warm, but it has no shallow end for the kids, and beware - the changing room is mixed sex with no cubicles. I managed to avert my gaze, and took a (large) towel to preserve my modesty...
To sum up, couldn't really fault this place, very enjoyable, and Esprit are a top notch company who really do take care of all the needs of travelling with a young family.

We (group of 10 adults/1 child) have just returned from the Altitude complex, Les Arcs 2000, France, after staying for a week in the Belette catered chalet, with holiday company Esprit Ski.
I was very apprehensive following some previous reviews, however i have to say from our experience, they were completely unjustified.
The complex itself is well ran, clean, and right next to the button lift leading onto the slopes. We used both the Pool and Sauna, which were very nice, with our actual accomodation being just as described within the brochure. The living/dining area was a nice size, with adequate seating, with each of the 6 ensuite double/twin rooms, just off it. The view over Arc 1950 from our balcony was awesome, and as our chalet was 2 floors above and away from the complex bar - the Red Fox - i would definitely recommend this chalet for those that may be concerned about that.
More importantly, our Chalet Host (Emma) was brilliant - the food was fantastic, and the wine was on free flow... and the childrens club again ran by Esprit was great, with our little boy being looked after Grace, who again, did a fantastic job.
Definitely book this Chalet for a great holiday - however a word of warning for SNOWBOARDERS... our group was primarily made up of boarders, and found that whilst there is a vast choice of runs available, some of the reds and a lot of the blues have flat sections which leave you no choice but to take your board off and walk. This resort is by far and away for skiiers.

Room Tip: Whilst I believe all chalets have some sort of view across 1950 - Chalet Belette is a great chalet.

I thought I would write an up to date review of this property because after I booked this chalet for friends and neighbours I was seriously concerned when I read the reviews. We stayed in the Chalet Altitude ( formerly Puma ). This chalet has been recently taken over and run by Inghams. The chalet is a 6 bedroom and has various en suite and toilet facilities for each bedroom. The bedrooms were all of a decent size and the double with en suite on upper level is very good. The place was very clean and well equipped. The decor is typical French ski chalet.
We were very impressed with our young chalet host Lucy who made breakfast each morning, cleaned the chalet and made our dinner each night. The food was of a good standard and the free wine each night was also good.
The location of the chalet was also great and a short walk took you to a button tow and straight onto the slopes. The choice of runs in Les Arcs is fantastic and my children loved the tree lined red runs over towards Arc 1800. I would recommend this property and would happily return.
