“Amazing location and staff!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed down the road at a different lodge which we had trouble with from the start. The rest of our party stayed at the Crocodile and Jacques, the manager, did everything to ensure that our stay in Marloth was brilliant. He got our keys for us, provided towels and treated us as though we were staying in his accommodation.

Although I went in a couple of rooms I can't comment on the quality but it looked of a very high standard. It overlooks the Kruger and herbivores roam around freely so you shouldn't walk around outside the lodge after 9pm.

The food was lovely, the staff were very friendly and I would highly recommend an extended stay at the Crocodile. There are 2 small pools to unwind in and lots of walks. They can organise a safari, bush walk and evening sunset drive which are all amazing! The only downside is that Marloth don't explain the signposting very well but not a fault of the Crocodile!

We brought our family and closest friends to this beautiful and friendly lodge for four days in November to celebrate our wedding and were blown away by how wonderfully looked after we were by Jacques and his staff. We bombarded them with emails from the UK for months ahead of arriving, turned up five hours late due to transport issues and overran the place with people, and they handled every moment superbly. We have been inundated with thanks by all our guests for the brilliant time they had.

The rooms are beautiful, the setting is glorious and the lodge has every amenity - they provided plug adapters for people who needed them, towels as soon as we got out of the pool, and wonderful food, drink and excellent wine at all hours.

We loved the animal life all around the lodge - kudu and wildebeest showed up on the morning of the wedding, monkeys were around before breakfast and warthogs and zebra were all over the driveway. The lodge also organises game drives and walks around Kruger and Marloth parks by their own rangers, who gave us an incredible view of the wildlife - cheetahs, hippos, lions and a chameleon among many others.

But the best part was the level of service we received - We found the various people required and worked out the timings and they took calls from our cake maker and florist both beforehand and on the day; bought extra decorations especially for us and set up stunning tables for dinner; arranged all the setup; gave directions to people who got lost on the way, and provided a beautiful champagne reception and dinner for us after the ceremony.

We hired a house up the road (totally unrelated to the lodge) for some of our guests, who turned up to find it in a totally unsuitable condition to stay in - no hot water or gas, poor lighting, no towels - and yet Jacques visited the place straight away to fix the heating and hot water and donated towels from the lodge for our guests. We were incredibly grateful for his care and attention well beyond what you would expect.

We loved every minute and could not recommend Crocodile Kruger Safari Lodge enough with every aspect from the food to the venue.

Room Tip: They have different buildings, ask the staff when booking

We stayed in the garden cottage. The cottage has a tv connected to the channels in the bar that has the full dstv. Everything is clean and the staff are very helpful and eager. The swimming pool area is really nice and peaceful. The only reason we would not visit the lodge again is the area it is situated in, Marloth Park. It is a few Km from kruger Park but does not have the same quality one would expect.

We stayed 2 years ago as the finale of our dream vacation ( 5 weeks ) to hang around Kruger for a week. We loved our experience here so much we came back !
Crocodile Kruger Lodge is a big part of why we returned. So close with easy access to the Kruger National park.
Having loved it so much we wondered if our memory was a bit off. To our delight it was better than the first time. They are always improving things !
This time we had our own car and rented the suite with the kitchenette, its much nicer than the photos show online. It was a bit of a dream place for us as it has its own huge private deck and braii, they even started the fire for us when we wanted to BBQ / Braii
Lots of game were next to the fence in mornings when enjoying coffee amongst the singing birds. We had our own heaven & with privacy,,, blisss,,,,
30 seconds walk and your in the lodge, if you want to use the pool, lounge around at several spots. The most popular is the balcony on the 2nd floor that overlooks the pool, courtyard, watering hole and the Crocodile River with Kruger park in the background. A beautiful & magic setting. Bring your camera !
Always people there sharing their experiences with such joy and happiness. Lots of room to spread out. One wants to find out what others saw and experienced.
One never knows what you might see, from nothing
,,,to WOW look at the Rhinos & Elephants. Even Lions at the river & lots of Hippos when we were there.
Or having Zeebra, Warthogs & Giraffe, grazing while you have an elegant romantic dinner on the patio overlooking the lodges own small watering hole. Marloth park is gated and protected by electric fences with NO predatory animals, its just wonderful too see and experience.

Jaques the chef and manager is a special person who really cares about your experience and works his butt off to give you a unique dining experience every night. Every meal is prepared from scratch, enjoy African culture with his unique touch and Passion !
We were lucky as every evening you could dine outside under the stars with candles in an elegant and romantic setting. Lots of room for everyone from romantic couples, gals and guys groups to families enjoying their special vacation.
The lodge is well set up in that there are many places where you can each have your own social area, 3 spots on the 2nd floor patio, a lounge and TV area off the bar, and a 2nd bar with a view of the pool. Of course the living room on the main level as well as several sets of patio furnishings around the pool.
Down a few more stairs is the large main outdoor dining area where they have a lovely fire at night, during the day lay back on one of the lazy loungers and read a book. Or walk around the grounds to take in mother nature.
Lots of room at the entrance for parking your car in the shade ! Yes they have covered areas for this. They will even wash your car if you want. Wi fi in the lobby and bar next to the front desk.

I can't say I have ever stayed at a place where I had so much fun, enjoyed such great food and did not spend that much. Jaques has a super wine list and knows his wines. Your better off to just ask what he would pair with the food, the wine is never expensive either.
On Saturday night they had what they called a Boma night, it was a lovely outdoor setting across from the entrance, fenced in with artful items on display along with nice lighting, a big fire that no one had to sit close to. Jaques prepared a traditional Potjie dinner, this is a meal that takes an entire day to prepare, its cooked slowly ( 5 hours) in cast iron pots, done over the coals of a fire. Jaques had special small pots, one for each person, it was delightful ! Its not a stew but similar. Better than stew ! Home made bread to die for.
He even made some home made beer ( included for free) that we all got to taste, it was nice. Once the meal is served the staff come out and perform. They dance and sing with drums etc around the fire. Join in, dance, clap and sing if you want.
It's just so special to take this all in while under the stars. 5 star rustic dining !! Thank you Jaques its really appreciated. In the end we got to cook our own marshmallows then dip them in some special chocolate he imported !
All in all we enjoyed ourselves so much we are changing our next years plans and will again fly for 3 days to get to this spot. I would think for some after reading my review it might seem over the top like an expensive 5 star place.
For me it was even better than that in that its small and personal. Every time we asked for something it always worked out. We truly felt at home and slept so well. And on top of that the price is so reasonable. I can see prices will go up over time as this place will only get busier. I have included a few of photos of the lodge and grounds as well as some of my best photos of our last day as we spoiled ourselves and went on one of their Safaris so we did not have to drive. "Killer" our guide (Albert) known for finding kills, he did the magic. They have a new perfectly made safari vehicle. Lucky us. We saw the big 5 in one day ! Shared with a nice family from France. We will for sure next time use their Safari services again as the price was very reasonable. We saw 2 sets of Leopards, a Lion kill, Rhinos, Elephants, Giraffe, Wildebeest, Water Buffalo, Zeebra, tons of Antelope, Crocks and so much other wildlife its hard to remember it all.
Many thanks to Jaques and his staff for a truly memorable stay :)
Keep up the good work :)

We stayed here for 4 nights at the end of October and had a truly fabulous time. The room was wonderful with a very comfortable bed and a veranda that looked out over the Crocodile River. Food was excellent and the Boma evening was great fun. Staff were lovely, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would seriously suggest that you book the full day safari that's on offer here, we did it rather than use our own car and saw much more than we would have seen by ourselves. 'Killer' Albert, our driver, knew exactly where to go and could see animals with his naked eye that I was having trouble seeing through binoculars. He also seemed to know which way they were moving so would position the truck so that they came by us very close. Really can't rate the whole experience too highly and looking forward to repeating the experience next year.

Overall a very nice place. A great common area with a large open fireplace and a upper deck verandah that allowed a view over the river. Service was efficient and friendly and the food very good. Wifi was free but limited to the reception/common area and tended to disappear at night. The room was well equipped and could be self catering. As good as you might expect and good value. A recommended choice if you are staying outside the park.

We really enjoyed our stay at the lodge. The tents are new, clean and well equiped. We liked the braai and eating together in the evening.
The location is perfect for visiting the Kruger; in about 3 min you are at the gate.
