“Excellent trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

We enjoyed the venue and were very grateful for the pool in the hot afternoons! Ettienne was very hospitable and went out of his way to make sure we had a great trip, we also had some great sightings!

Maqueda Lodge was a great experience for us, friendly service, good food (especially the breakfast) and just great, peaceful and serene atmosphere. Thank you Francois!!!!

If I were to suggest anything it would to maybe have a heated pool for the nippy evenings...

I highly enjoyed my stay at Maqueda. The personal service was outstanding and the food was excellent. I wudv preferred an actual double bed though instead of 2 single beds pushed together. But well done.

Warm welcome from this family runned lodge! Home made cooking and relaxing atmosphere was the overall feeling! Had a great break away from home and will recommend it to anyone. Close to Kruger and Mozambique

This was an amazing place and I would most definitely recommend this as a getaway for any couple. It is serene and peaceful and gives you a great outdoors experience without the hassles of outdoors! We chose this lodge to stay in for our visit to the Kruger National Park. Its location is ideal as it is so close to the park. You can take your own vehicle into the park or go on an arranged tour (which I highly recommend because viewing is a huge improvement with a safari vehicle that has height as an advantage to allow you to see over trees/ long grass in spotting animals, and you have the added advantage of a guide who would generally know where the animals would be, so chances of spotting animals are great). It is so close that there are animals walking around- Zebra, giraffe, and others. The rooms are immaculate- with the best linens and great shower. It has a very rustic bush feel but with the normal luxuries of pampered accommodation. The team that runs maqueda lodge will ensure that you are taken care of and happy and are too happy to try look after you/ any specific needs. The food at the lodge is just amazing. 5 star meals for sure! On layout/ presentation/ selection and just good old fashioned taste! Down to a standard breakfast which even comes alive!! François and the team give such an added edge over any other lodge, by their personal interaction as well immaculate service and very entertaining stories about the animals 

It is a very small lodge - only 5 rooms, so you will def get a cosy interaction with other lodge guests on dinners and breakfasts and possibly game drives.

An amazing experience for a lowly city slicker like myself- who likes the common luxuries but wanted to experience the Kruger Park!

Maqueda Lodge is an amazing boutique style hotel. A warm welcome, and a large airconditioned room was only surpassed by the quality of the meals. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. Fantastic !
