“One for the bucket list!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2013

I had always wanted to visit Kruger National Park…you know one for the bucket list…and, after choosing to stay at Royal Kruger Lodge I couldn’t be happier with my safari experience!

Vic’s friendly service via email whilst we were initially planning the trip from AUS saw that we had all the information we needed prior to arriving. Upon arrival we were greeted by Sean, who was an excellent host and ensured that we had everything we needed from the moment we stepped onto the property, to the moment we (sadly) departed.

With the gracious and accommodating staff, delicious meals, comfortable rooms (serviced daily) and relaxing atmosphere the lodge really felt like a home away from home for me.

Your days can be spent out on safari with the thrills of wildlife spotting (thanks to our expert guide Robert, who seriously has a fantastic eye for game spotting), off on a tour to Swaziland, on a nature walk around Marloth Park or just chilling at the lodge with a massage – the beauty of it is that you choose what suits you most! Nights can spent watching the sunset over the river whilst enjoying a few cold ones, or relaxing on the patio at the lodge sharing the days stories with fellow travellers.

The atmosphere at the lodge is amazing - giraffe, warthog and other wildlife (including my personal favourite - ‘Kevin’ the Kudo), wonder the RKL grounds nonchalantly, giving you an opportunity to see these beautiful animals up close (excellent for photos – don’t forget to charge your cameras!). You can also often here the lions roaring at night in the distance as you finish your meal or drinks – just magical!

I recommend RKL to all, what a perfect way to experience a South African safari adventure - I can’t wait to go back!

From the time my friend & I arrived at Kruger lodge we Recieved friendly & professional service & this was constant for the duration of our stay! We were greeted straight away & introduced to all the staff members & the other travellers & then shown to our gorgeous/clean & tidy room. The different areas of the lodge were explained & shown to us leaving us feeling a great sense of comfort and security! The layout of the lodge, combined with the friendly & relaxed staff made it a very "homely" experience! Compliments to the chef's, very tasty home style meals, we never went hungry that's for sure haha! We were impressed with the activities included in our package & the extra options available, giving us the opportunity to have some down time but also the option to fill up our days with extra exciting adventures if we wanted. We had a great time & would highly recommend it to all age groups.

We had a fantastic stay at the Royal Kruger Lodge, which was about a 30 minute drive to Kruger national park. The staff very friendly and went out of their way to be hospitable, and this made our stay very enjoyable. We went on a safari drive with Robert from the lodge, and he was very knowledgable and experienced, and could spot animals long before we could. The traditional dinner at the lodge was delicious. We would definitely recommend to people who want a friendly intimate environment to experience Kruger Park.

I purchased a Scoopon deal to go to Royal Kruger with my son, and had no idea of what to expect, and could not have asked for anymore and was extrememly pleased.

From the first moment that I contacted Vic, who operates the lodge, he was quick to reply with helpful suggestions. I was also able to meet him when at the lodge, and saw how much time he spends on emails, following up with guests. If you are thinking of going to Kruger send Vic and email.

On arriving at the lodge, we were warmly welcomed by Leanne, the host, and after settling in, taken to the lookout at Crocadile Creek for nibbles, drinks and a lovely informal get to know each other.

Each day there were safaris or tours to do, and if we did not want to do the suggested tours, we could relax at the lodge, have a massage or the lodge would follow up on something we might like to try.

The Royal Kruger Lodge guides are of the highest calibre, being informative, courteous, and flexible according to your needs, always willing to go the extra mile in helping you get memorable photos. I also was able to experience the Kruger Park guides and they did not come anywhere need the standard of Royal Kruger Lodge guides. Royal Kruger are very lucky to have Robert, Chase and Rick.

Rooms were nice size and cleaned to perfection each day, and the outside shower was pure luxury.

Julia is in charge of the kitchen and takes great pride in all connected with the culinary side of the business. The meals were excellent and of adequate proportions, and well presented. My son is a big eater, and there was always the offer of more. The cottage pie was so great he had three helpings, which was no reflection on the serving, as I only had one !

In summing up my review, I congratulate Vic and the team on their high quality customer service they provide to their guests, as it is dwindling a lot these days, however Royal Kruger Lodge oozes wiht it, and staying here is a MUST if visiting Kruger Park - You will not be disappointed.

My husband was not able to travel with us for this trip, but if ever the opportunity did arise, and I was fortunate to be able to go back to Royal Kruger I would have him on a plane before you could blink, as it was the experience of a life time. THANK YOU ROYAL KRUGER :-)

To my mind the Royal Kruger Lodge is the perfect holiday accomodation. The service is above and beyond, it is clean and modern. The atmosphere is informal and relaxed and interaction between the guests is encouraged. The result is friendships are made easily and quickly. The game drives are enhanced by the charm, friendliness and incredible knowledge of the guides, and the food! Let's just say, you won't lose any weight. I would recommend RKL to anyone who wants to combine a relaxing holiday with the wonder of the African bush.
