“Arnoux Is The Man...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

Yes! Stay here and feel safe, see unbelievable wildlife, eat great food, and hang out with great people. Three of us flew from Rome to London to Johannesburg, and then onto Nelspruit Mpumalanga, arriving on June 27. Arnoux picked us up at Mpumalanga, drove us to Grand Kruger, and we spent three nights at the lodge. The owners Leon and Doctor were there every day. Both Doctor and Leon sat with us, drank with us, and talked with us every day. Adele greeted us upon arrival, spoke with us at dinner, and again, was there every day to help us with whatever we needed. Arnoux took us into Kruger Park and was simply awesome. You feel safe with him and know that he is a total professional. We saw a leopard dragging it's kill (impala), three lionesses on the hunt, an injured cheetah, cape buffalo, elephants, giraffes, a black-backed jackal and other wildlife. I'll be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the room with the deck overlooking the back of the lodge. I think it was room 5, but as...

The jewel in Marloth Park's crown! What a wonderful setting - absolutely fabulous. The service at the lodge is second to none, and we have visited many 5star places throughout the world. We were served with some of the best food we have experienced, our congratulations to Prince the chef. If Michelin was our name we would award the Lodge a star ( or maybe two). Magnifgicent!

All staff at the Lodge were welcoming and very friendly making us feel part of the Lodge "family" nothing was too much trouble. Magnificent!

Arnoux deserves a special mention as he made our trips into Kruger Park and other places so unforgettable, being able to show us many unusual sightings, both large and small, plus a lot of Big 5 sightings. So memorable and Magnificent!

Thank you all at Grand Kruger Lodge for our holiday of a lifetime.Leon, Doctor, Arnoux you can be assured we will be back in 2013.

Room Tip: The Bush Camp rooms are excellent, and rooms 3 & 4 within the main building both have their own...

The place is a natural gem. Its stunning, the personal service you get makes you feel like a princess. Ofcourse not forgetting the chef and his magic in the kitchen. The staff pays a great deal to every detail as though everyone who works there owns the establishment.Thank u for everything. Love Sne & Nomvula

The staff were unbelievably friendly and without them this place wouldn't be what it is. Didn't spend too much time at hotel, as most of our stay was in the Kruger - but the time we did spend at hotel we felt very welcomed by the staff. The lunch couldve been better though. Dinner was always good.

We returned for the 4th time to Grand Kruger Lodge. This time for our 10th wedding anniversary. Hard to believe, but our stay even got better this time around. With special attention to our day (fresh, big bunch of flowers, chocolates, bubbly, fruits and rose petals on the bed)!

The cusine was once again excellent and we could not have asked for a better menu.

A great business run to perfection by owner Leon and his manager Doctor.

A big thanx to the whole team who made this an unforgettable holiday for us. Keep up the great work!

Room Tip: Room 4 has is own private balcony with seating

5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

Arrived back in the UK earlier today after spending 5 days at The Grand Kruger Lodge. Everything was perfect - the weather - high 30's/low 40's, the Lodge is so relaxing, all the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the food was lovely and the bush camp lodge we stayed in was gorgeous and so peaceful. On our first afternoon we had a female Kudu come and eat leaves just 2 metres from our terrace, a family of warthogs regularly visited us, one morning we had monkeys watchng us eat breakfast - it was all fantastic! On the trip from the airport to the Lodge we stopped in the road in Marloth Park for a giraffe to walk across and our guide, Arnoux, picked up a camelion - all to the delight of us and our 15 year old daughter (a hard age range to please!). We saw the Big 5 on our evening and full day safari trips plus we saw another Leopard one evening on a trip down to the Crocodile River. Given the time, money and chance we would definately a) recommend Grand Kruger Lodge to anyone and b) visit again, which pretty much says it all. In addition to the safari and just relaxing around the pool, my husband did quad biking which he said was great fun and really challenging. My daughter and I did horse back safari riding on 2 days. The horses were sure footed and forward going with the guide being very careful to make sure that we felt happy and safe. We were able to go at the pace we wanted to - which in our case was lots of cantering - straight paths and twisted, turning ones, taking the horses through a lake (with us on their backs!), up a steep slope - all great experience and definately furthered my riding experience, which I wasn't expecting. Having said that you really could do the horse riding at whatever level you wanted to - they do family riding and without a doubt, if we had wanted to go slower/gently that wouldn't have been a problem to our knowledgeble and friendly guide, Samson. All in all, a fantstic holiday and one you should do, given the chance. Leon, Arnoux, the Doctor plus all the other staff including Sabelo, who was ray of sunshine with his happy smile and laugh, the other waiter in the eveing who made sure we always had plenty of insect cream, the 2 waitresses in the morning and eveing - all had such a pleasant and happy manner and all went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect - nothing was too much trouble.
