“What a difference the weather maked”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

As we checked in there were several weddings scheduled and golf. The hotel was very busy and became crowded as a storm broke out. The restaurant was booked out, the two bars full of holders and wedding guests, so we were offered room service from the Tempo bar menu. The staff were clearly stressed and the poor old building was creaking (indeed flooding in one corridor).
However when the sun emerged, the place cleared, the restaurant and bars emptied and all became well.
The room was large and quiet, food good and staff restored to normal. Beware of expensive wine prices though!

This is the 3rd time me and my son have stopped at this fabulous country hotel after the Cricket. Yet again the room, service, food and leisure facilities were top quality. Ok it isn't cheap but you do get what you pay for. The junior suites are amazing. Try lunch in the Tempo Bar. Definitely will be going next year.

The room was a little tired with the wallpaper gapping off of the wall but the bed was large and comfortable.
Housekeeping had skipped on their job of turning our room around and the only biscuits on offer to us was a half eaten packet!!!
The hot tub in the fitness facility was actually a luke warm tub.
However, the staff were friendly and the location is nice.

When we arrived there was a golf tournament on and a wedding so our first thought was this is not going to be good, check in was polite and quick, we needed directions to the room as it is a bit of a rabbit warren , it was a long walk!, but don’t worry they give you a map.

The room was fair, we eat in the main restaurant, the food was excellent and it could not fault the service, prices were reasonable except the wine. The bar service was very good.
The breakfast selection was very good, it was a pity we could not say the same about the service, we were told a cook was there to fry eggs or omelettes etc., we never saw the cooking station occupied, and we had to chase the staff to get a pot of tea. If it was not for that it would have been a great stay.

Mrs B and I decided that as our 10th wedding anniversary was approaching and we had been offered an overnight babysitter (meaning our 1st time away without the kids) we wanted to do something special. We booked the romance package (champagne, chocolates etc) as well as a junior suite. As a result of problems our end with babysitting dates changing, we had to amend the booking a couple of times and each time we were dealt with courteously and efficiently, eventually ending up going on a night when the package wasn't even valid, but were still allowed to book it, so absolutely top marks for flexibility and communication. We arrived and were seamlessly checked in with politeness and taken to our room which ws superb. Lovely comfy four poster bed and spectacular views out across the lake and grounds. Everything we needed was dealt with efficiently, and we spent a lovely afternoon walking in the grounds and then having a leisurely early evening in the comfortable bar before heading in for supper. In the Priory Restaurant, the staff were attentive without being intrusive, and we enjoyed a superb three course meal with good quality wine. Breakfast was another example of good service, food and presentation. We decided to use the leisure facilities prior to checking out where we were dealt with by a very enthusiastic member of the pool/spa staff. Checkout was again an effortless procedure, and just confirmed that we made the right choice for an altogether memorable experience which we both would love to repeat. An example to others as to how a hotel should be run.

I was visiting the hotel for a business meeting and hadn't had time to get a haircut, before I left home. So managed to get into Hoopers salon part of the hotel. I had a great haircut with Kate and was made to feel very welcome. I hope to be back in the area again soon on business and will ring next time and book appointment with Kate.

My wife and I had the opportunity to add to our list of UK Marriot stays on a recent holiday. I am a Platignum Premier Marriot member, and believe that Marriots properties in the UK are second to none.
We were not disapointed with our stay at Breadsall !!! The property is magnificent, wonderfully well appointed rooms and a braeth of fresh air after some other UK experieces. However !!!! We were were very disapointed with the hotel restaurant. Dinner portions were small, expensive and very ordinary. Service was slow and in genereal we were left feeling "down" . Breakfast was supposed to make up for this, but again we were very disapointed. We arrived 30 mins before the end of breakfast, and were left with the "dregs" . Nowhere near the standard of other Marriot UK breakfasts. So,a common theme through reviews on this site. Wonderful property, relaxing experience, very poor food experience. What's the issue, please ?
