“Another world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Incredible place.
My wife and I stayed 2 night at Whitepod and were very lucky with the weather and snow conditions.
We enjoyed everything: back country skiing on the "private mountain" (powder!!), massages, great food, cosy mini bar area and ... quietness!
It didn't even bother my to get up in the middle of the night to add some wood in the furnace while the room temperature was at freezing level !

Room Tip: Ask for a pod on the lower row, this way you wont have another one taking the view.

We have been at the whitepod for 1 night with our 4 month old baby. Great welcome and very friendly staff. Short walk through the snow to the whitepod, luagage was brought by the staff.
The pod was already heated. Baby bed was ready. Very well equiped (water boiler with tea and coffee, amenities in the bathroom etc...). Attention to details and decoration to make the place authentic and luxury at the same time. Very comfortable and warm beds with a fantastic view on the mountains. To heat the fireplace is very romantic. There are candles everywhere. But there is electric light and enough electric outlets :-) During the night you have to heat regularly (every 2-3h) the fireplace. It gets quite cold about 10°C if you are not heating regularly. The restaurant is cosy and the food is good, menu with large choice. Very good breakfast with nice terrace and astonishing view on the mountains. I absolutely recommend to spend a night in the whitepod with your beloved. It's a very romantic place and a unique experience.

I had wanted to stay in a White Pod for years so was really happy to hear that they were once again going to be open following refurbishment. We got a transfer from Monthey which is fairly priced. If we went again we would consider getting a local taxi to drive us too. Check in was efficient and we were fortunate to be allowed to enter our pod a little earlier than usual. All of the staff we came across were friendly and very helpful, great service.

Our pod was beautiful, spotlessly clean, cozy and beautifully laid out. I loved it! The club house bit near the pods is lovely too, very cozy, with an honesty bar, sauna, cold bath, and a relaxation area.

The ski lifts were not working when we were there apparently because it was quite icy - I am not sure how often they are open. We did a long snow walk hike instead (we were told that it would take around 1.5 hours but took us more like 3!). It was a great walk but very tiring – I was exhausted afterwards. Would be great in summer too. Make sure that you bring a couple of plastic bottles of water with you to refill for the walk, as most of the bottles on site are glass. We were only there for 1 night but I would loved to have stayed for another night if possible so that we could have had more time to relax and maybe have a massage.

I slept really well (save for a short episode around 3am when a couple in the pod next to us started arguing), and loved the brand new looking bathroom and hot shower.

I really enjoyed the experience of walking to the restaurant for dinner at night and back – it was a bit of an adventure! The walk is about 10-15 minutes up hill, thankfully we were in one of the pods towards the start of the slope which saved us having to walk right to the top.

We woke up to what looked like a blizzard outside in the morning which was quite exciting. We could hear the snow falling off the roof which is loud but not too bad.

We ate at the restaurant and all the food we had was superb – I especially enjoyed the cheeseburger and the fondue! All the food and wine are local apparently which I was impressed with. We were recommended some wines which were delicious. Breakfast was fantastic, great continental spread with a hot breakfast option too.

It is an expensive experience but compared to say the Ice Hotel in Sweden I think it is cheaper and a much more comfortable experience, would love to return one day!

If it wasn't for the inconvenience of waking up at night every three hours to fuel the chimney with more wood (otherwise you will freeze), I would have probably lived there! The staff is super nice, the whole concept is built on trust and respect (typical of traditional mountain lodges I suppose), and all the facilities you need for a romantic, adventure, or leisure escape are available: private ski slope and lift, sledges, good food, njce bar, tv room, spa etc. But obviously the best is the pod itself, luxurious yet eco friendly, comfortable, convenient, and nicely decorated. A heaven on earth. However, note that there might be a rather disturbing smell of smoke from the heating system, which might discourage people from staying for long stays as it could become unbearable for some after a couple of days. I also wish it was located at a higher altitude for more snow all winter.

We are just back from our night in the Whitepod and we had a fabulous time! The view from inside the pod was absolutely magical and it made reading the paper (we had brought with us) a very memorable experience. We didn't buy any of the activities that were available but it was easy enough to go out on a snowshoe hike on our own, which we did. The fireplace kept the pod very warm though we did have to get up in the middle of the night to restart it again because it got quite cold, quickly, when it went out even with the wonderful bedding which was provided.

At night the hike back down to the restaurant was lovely as they had lit the path from the pods back down to the road with candles. The food in the restaurant was wonderful as was the service throughout our stay. It was a bit expensive for one night (the only place to eat/drink in Les Cerniers is the restaurant associated with Whitepod and is not cheap) but I personally felt it was worth it.

We did however have two things that just weren't quite "right."

1. The breakfast room is quite small and it felt a bit like we were all sitting on top of each other as it seemed most people arrived around 9/9:15 as we did.
2. We had eaten lunch in the restaurant at noon and booked a specific table for dinner with one of the staff who encouraged us to do so only to find that when we arrived for dinner it had already been given to another couple. At that point the table which was available was directly under one of the few bright lights in the restaurant - unfortunately it was far from being the romantic dinner we had hoped (and planned) for.

Do be warned that if you are there during a big snow (16cm in 8 hours) as we were having a good sleep wasn't very easy - we kept being woken up by sheets of snow sliding off the pod. It sounded as if someone was shoveling right outside & on top of you all night. This isn't something they can control but we were quite tired when we got home as we hadn't slept well the night before.

We stayed here for a birthday and it was Magical!
The scenery is breathtaking: an isolated luxury "igloo camp" overlooking the mountains and the valley. The nature around is stunning: forrest, trails, slopes and fields are just what you dream of in the Mountains. The activities available are spot-on: snowshoeing, dog sledging, skiing etc... (downside is the price). The food was great: cheese for the ones who expect cheese from a Swiss resort and other dishes for the ones who have overdosed the cheese already. Food well prepared and tasty. Last but not least: A FANTASTIC SERVICE: the staff was warm, welcoming, helpful and really went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and valued as a guest.
We will for sure go back again!

My girlfriend and I stayed here for Christmas day. It was very romantic. The rooms are such a nice and romantic experience. The staff is super welcoming and helpful (specially to us that had no previous experience with this much snow). From our pod we had a beautiful view of the Alps, lake Geneva and the valley.

The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star review is because I think they could pay more attention to the details. 1) The bathroom door in our room was very hard to close something that can get fixed very quickly and 2) there were plenty of flies in the room which was very annoying specially when we wanted to go to sleep.

I'm pretty sure if you decide to go there you will have a great snow adventure!
