“Great guide!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2012

This was my third visit to the grotte de Limousis and I was lucky enough to come accross a great guide who not only knew his stuff but was also very entertaining. This is a very nice grotte to visit and it has a huge crystal formation at the end (unique in the world) with a sound and light show. A great visit for children and best to visit BEFORE you go to the gouffre de Cabrespine which is just up the road and is even more impressive. There is a reduction on the tickets if you visit both sites. If you're travelling in a camping car I would recommend you to take the larger road between both sites aven if it is a little longer as there is one quite hazardous bit on the narrow one car road that links the two sites.
Well worth the visit!

“An interesting and well-managed cave”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2011

I enjoyed my tour of the cave and I think it's a great attraction, but it wasn't life-changing.

The guided tour has some interesting facts, especially for people with no knowledge of geology. There are perfect examples of several different kinds of formations. The cave has been outfitted with walkways and railings in certain areas to help you discover it without being a crazy adventurer. The temperature is pretty chill, as you'd expect, all year round.

There's a gorgeous aragonite formation at the back of the cave, but it's marred by what I consider to be a slightly silly light show. But this is a great attraction to introduce somebody to the wonder of southern French geology. There are some cool things to look at. Maybe not life changing, but very pretty. And it's a nice way to get out of the heat for a bit.

When I bring people here (I live in the region), I often try to picnic in the mountains nearby.

“One of the best caves anywhere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2011

Limousis is I think the best cave I have ever seen. It is small and intimate compared with others I have visited but it allows close viewing of all its treasures, including the largest array of aragonite crystals in the world, revealed in a sound and light show at the very back of the cave.

The cave is not too demanding physically but a good level of fitness is required along with a good sense of balance as the accesss pathway leading up to the cave and those within the cave are reasonably steep. It is also not a place for those afraid of enclosed spaces. Sensible and comfortable footwear such as runners or good walking shoes, is essential as the surfaces within the cave can be uneven and potentially trigger a fall.

The cave includes crystal-clear pools and well as gently falling water and provides excellent examples of all types of formations expected in a good cave system.

There is a first-class visitor centre with excellent facilities for food and beverage and bathrooms.
