We stopped here en route back to the UK for what should have been a quick lunch, but due to slow service and a packed restaurant was about an hour just to get a steak-frites and a coffee.
The food was ok, and average value for money I suppose, but aside from the service the main problem was the flies. All of the outdoor tables were crawling with them. Even the diners inside seemed to be under attack. When our steaks arrived it was a question of wolfing it all down before the insects got it there, flailing desperately with menus and napkins.
La Canourgue is a "village d'etape" and we'd stopped here a few years ago on the way down south and spent a very pleasant evening, eating in the same restaurant in fact, so it was a bit of a shame that the second experience was so negative.
