Nice hiking trails nothing extreme. 360 degrees of beautiful scenery. We went in Oct and will be going back mid summer this year.

“Relaxing and pleasant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2014 via mobile

My husband and I went to hekla lake view resort for a weekend getaway. It was a beautiful drive and the reception was very friendly and pleasant. Our room was very nice and had a huge soaker tub and sleep number beds, which we really enjoyed.
The best part about the resort was the food. Everything we tried was exceptional. The servers were very professional, and had excellent customer service etiquette. We went in the winter and decided to hike one of the trails. It's was -25C so we were the only people on the trail. It was beautiful. The resort offered free ski and snow shoe rentals but we opted out and just walked. The trail was nicely groomed.
We returned and went into the spa pools which had a pebble and mineral pool. The spa pools were separated from this kids pool, which I GREATLY appreciated. Both pools and sauna were wonderful. We did not try the cold plunge pool! But it was available!
I would recommend this resort to anyone who appreciates great service.

“Very nice park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

The lookout tower at the north end past the resort and marina is great, good views from the top. A very rustic park that I am looking forward to camping at next year.

“Great way to spend a day!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

Spent a day hiking and geocaching throughout the park. Really enjoyed the the lake and woods. Had a picnic in an old quarry with some smoked fish we bought at the only store on the island. It was right on the lake and was really beautiful. Several nice beaches, but the water was chilly. If it was hotter out I would have gone swimming, but the weather was mild. The drive is pretty, but you really need to get out and walk to find some of the gems on this island.
