Excellent food, good rooms very friendly owners. Owners know the environment very well for cycling and hicking. We stayed 5 days and cycled many famous Tour de France cols including Tourmalet. Amazing!

Just back from a great stay with Elma and Mark at Les Deux Velos.
The lodge is perfectly located for cycling and hiking/riding, and Mark and Elma are able to advise where to go etc.

The lodge itself is comfortable and has some cool arty stuff, but not luxurious. It does however, have a lot of features that are geared to the needs of the exercising guests: our shower had full body massage setting, the room has hanging space for drying out post exercise clothes (and a bucket or the option of using the washing machine for 5 euro), they will even organise a sports masseure to come in if you want, and the meals... My word the meals. Three courses with wine every night designed to restock energy. Elma is a great cook. You'll need to exercise a lot of be able to do it justice. Breakfast and plenty of coffee is provided in the evening. The day we left a group were getting up at 5.30 to drive out for an epic ride and Mark and Elma laid on an early breakfast.

Oh, the wifi and the many books (mostly in Dutch, though), were nice touches.

And, you don't even need to pack your own bike. They have new, good bikes to hire for 20 euro a day.

Loved it

Room Tip: Take some earplugs. The place is so quiet that the occasional speeding car in the night is quite jar...

Happened upon this quaint spot on our trans Pyrennese bike ride in May 2012. It's 2k west of Massat. Hosts Mark and Elma did us proud. Dried our clothes, fed us well and even provided evening entertainment and a few gasses of wine, beer and their special pear schnapps! We had our own bikes but they have some super carbon velos for hire, even up to 64cm! Ukulele lessons free too. I would plan it into your itinerary. Rod

I've stayed at Les Deux Velos in September 2009 and 2010 and have had a wonderful time cycling the local Cols. Mark and Elma are extremely good hosts, not only providing excellent meals, sourced from their vegie garden, but also providing lots of advice on roads and local circuits. Mark is a keen rider and enjoys accompanying guests on rides and advising which restaurants to stop at for lunch. If you break down he is willing to perform rescue missions (I broke 5 spokes in a cycling accident rendering the rear wheel non-operational). Mark was willing to drive for 2.5 hours past the Port de Pailheres to perform the rescue. I would recommend the lodge to anyone who enjoys cycling and walking. There are other guests on site and for the single cyclist you will find other people to ride with. The cave paintings near Tarascon sur Ariege are definately worth a visit. A local cycling jersey (Ariegeoise ride) can be purchased from the Tourist Information office in Tarascon.

Les Deux Velos is located right in the heart of cycling paradise!! There are an unlimited number of unbeatable routes through beautiful country side with very little to no traffic on them. If you're legs aren't climbing ready at the start, they certainly will be before you leave!

The owners are a super friendly dutch couple. Elma is a great cook and Mark was more than happy to help me map out some routes and even joined me on a few rides whenever he could. I would really recommend this to anyone who is thinking about a cycling trip in the south of France - hands down the best hosts I had and the best cycling I did during my three years living in France.
