We booked this place as night one of our honeymoon, a 17 night tour of Northern Spain. We knew that night one would be a tiring one as it was intended to break up the journey from Madrid to San Sebastian. That said, we found Rioja region halfway, and saw what looked like a beautiful 4* hotel (from the picutres)
Arrived in Cenicero tired after 4+ hours of driving and a flight before that. Well I must say, the town is, erm, a little rough around the edges? As for the hotel, stuck on a side street, with no view that I could recognise as the hotel in the picture.
Walked in only to find that night one of our honeymoon was ruined - they had double booked us, and booked us into a hotel of the same standard in Logrono - about 12 miles away.
Not at all happy, but too tired to argue, we drove to Logrono, found we had been booked into a single room in a 3 star travelodge equivalent on the outskirts of town. Still, they gave us a double after a little arguing, threw in breakfast, and with a cheap short taxi ride to town centre, actually liked Logrono a lot. Far far better than Cenicero which looked dead and scruffy. In fact, I think Cenicero is also spanish for Ashtray.
Anyway - cant give the hotel more than 1 - double booking with no apology is as bad as it can get surely?
Rest of holiday brilliant, so all not lost!
