We didn't stay at the hotel but were staying in the village so thought for our wedding anniversary we'd book for dinner - what a total disappointment. When we arrived we were ignored for about half an hour despite catching the attention of the waiter. We should probably have left and gone to the local pub but we stayed for what turned out to be a fairly miserable evening.
The canapés arrived and were average. Our starters were just about edible - I had the mini fish and chip dish - nice idea but didn't work with salmon, my husband can't even remember what he ate. My main was the vegetarian mixed plate which was tasteless, dry, looked like it had been thrown together and just didn't work. My husband had the poisson which was dry and tasteless and really not very good.
The waiting staff didn't really care about us and were only friendly when it came to paying the bill.
I'm usually quite keen to see the best in restaurants and hotels but on this occasion the only redeeming feature was the setting and the view of the water from the terrace. The food was expensive and very very ordinary and to charge £30 a head is quite frankly theft - and really spoilt what should have been a special evening.
Go and try it if you want to see the view but don't eat there - the pub up the road is much better and about a third of the price.
