“Good budget accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

Stayed in one of the family cottages here, which had everything that you needed during your time there. We only had one night stay but had a good rest. Shower was fantastic with lots of pressure and the heater pumped out the warmth despite the cooler environment which wasn't expected during the summer.

A highlight was the lovely stream walk that started out the back of the place and went right down to the lake front for further walks if you wanted.

it asks for $5/day for wireless internet. The room is smelly but the shower has powerful water pressure and a hot plate to hang the clothes which is cosy. No maps provided for the region, staff was so so friendly.

Family of 5 staying in a two bedroom motel unit. Two singles in one room and a double and single in the other.

Nice and tidy unit. As a family unit and the fact St Arnaud doesn't have restaurants etc I was expecting to have an oven in the kitchen instead of just a small two ring hotplate.

Warm unit with Good TV with Sky.

Great location with beautiful walking track through native bush right through to the lake.

Lake Rotoiti is absolutely stunning!!!

Would certainly stay at this motel again.

Motel is located a 5 minute wakl from the centre of St Arnaud. The room we had (10) was large, well equipped and very comfortable, warming up very quickly on a cold day. The power had been cut by a lightning strike but everything was done to sort this out and we had a great couple of days. There's abundant birdlife just across the stream at the back (we had a contemporary unit which are perhaps a bit smarter than the log cabins) and lots of walks from the motel. Internet access is $5 a day but the allowance is huge and it works well. We ate in both the Alpine Lodge and Clinker Cafe and both were very good. Overall, very nice place, recommended for anyone visiting the beautiful Nelson Lakes.

My partner and I stayed in a log cabin studio unit at the end of September. The queen bed was comfortable, though quite firm, with ample bedding to keep us warm. The unit was lovely and warm, the owner kindly put on the heater before we arrived. The small kitchen had a microwave, small cooktop, toaster, jug and enough utensils and crockery for what we needed. The bathroom had a shower, vanity and toilet. There was a TV with several channels but unfortunately the Sky Movie channel did not seem to be working. The unit had ample room for my partner and I without us tripping over each other. The whole complex was tidy and well maintained and the owner friendly and accommodating. It was very quiet at the time we were there as there were not many guests. At the rear of the complex there was a path which led to the lake front through spectacular native bush beside a picturesque stream.

This motel was great. We were four people so booked a two bedroom cottage for two nights during NewZealand summer. The cottage was really spacious. It has nice good size rooms with a kitchen. Rooms were very clean and the cottage look to be newly built.
I would rate the location of the motel its best value. If you want to be with nature and like a peaceful and a non-touristy place - dont miss out.
The motel is a short walk to the lake where we did some kayaking and took a water taxi tour.
St Arnaud is a really small place; there is a small petrol station with a shop for basic needs.

Enjoyed the stay. Good for place for stay for exploring the nelson lakes area.

Room Tip: Choose a cottage.

Motel was good, we got a log cabin and it was very nice and warm. Basic kitchen but that's what we wanted for a short stay after a conference in Nelson. We loved the location though. Beautiful and peaceful. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, it was pretty quiet around the village! It was a bonus to be able to walk to the lake from the motel using the track along the stream.
