We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at la Garzetta. The owner and his family were so friendly and helpful. We were met at the station and taken back to the station at the end of our stay. During our stayr we were given lifts to Viareggio including an unscheduled tour of the citadella del carnevale, an amazing place where giant papier mâché figures for the Viareggio carnival are made. We had unlimited use of bicycles to get to the nearby beach and to cycle into Viareggio. It's also easy to get to Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Viareggio, Petrasanta etc. by train and bus from here. Breakfasts were plentiful and always ready in the outdoor gazebo set up for the purpose. The B&B is in Torre del Lago Puccini, a quiet extention to the busier resort of Viareggio. Beside the lago di Massaciuccoli, associated with Puccini, is the great open-air theatre where opera, jazz etc. are performed, and this is easily reached on foot or by bicycle from the B&B. But it is more than anything else the cordial welcome that we received that made this such a pleasant stay. The owner and his family were very chatty, helpful and attentive, and very patient with my attempts to converse in somewhat rusty Italian. I would not hesitate to recommend this B&B and hope to return there in the future.
