“A lovely relaxed night away”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2012

We Stayed here on a very cold and snowy evening, courtesy of a KGB deal which entitled us to bed and breakfast, and the option of paying extra for an evening meal which we decided to we take up.
I'm so glad we did as it turned out the heavy and persistent snow would have prevented us from driving anywhere else that evening.
The room was large with everything we needed. There was plenty of storage and wardrobe space, a kettle and some tea, coffee biscuits etc..
There was a wall mounted hairdryer in the bathroom, and the bathroom itself was large with both bath and shower.
We paid an extra £20 per person for a three course meal with a bottle of wine included in the price,- a real bargain. The food itself was very good. Starters and mains better than the desserts, but by the time we got to dessert, we were pretty full anyway.
Service in general and in the restaurant for dinner was spot on. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We had breakfast early the next morning, and left before 9, as we were concerned with the icy road conditions and wary of delays.
Breakfast like dinner was good and the service was attentive.

We had a really lovely relaxing stay at Ty Newydd , and would not hesitate to go back again in the future.

Warm and comforting county house hotel with log fires in the bar and lounge areas. Pleasure to walk into on a snowy January night.

Nice sized rooms.

Very good quality food and I can recommend the fish.

We've eaten here a couple of times as wedding guests and the food has remained the best wedding breakfasts we've ever had.

We ate at The George restaurant a few months ago and it was perfect. Our highly-anticipated starters of Welsh Muffin were deliciously rich. Other half had the bacon steak, which he was very pleased with, while I ordered the pork fillet in cider sauce. I was so pleased with my choice, perfectly cooked tender free-range pork with an addictive sauce and gorgeous saute potatoes.

Other half was so full he had to pull into a layby on the way home for fear of falling asleep :-) That doesn't usually happen...

Can't wait to eat there again and such a beautiful place....

A nice hotel we booked for a Friday evening on a kgb deal. Staff very friendly and helpful, room lovely as we were upgraded to a suite, the only negative was the evening meal. A 3 course meal was £20 but the choice for the main was very poor. Starter and dessert was nice but their was only 4 choices on the menu for main. They were cornbeef rissoles, haddock and chips, steak and ale pie and a vegetarian red pepper, where was the meat and fish? This was very disappointing as it is a country hotel you do expect a bit of chicken, pork, steak, salomn etc. The meal was very bland and to be offered both vegetables and salad on the same plate was strange (hot and cold). Breakfast was nice and overall a nice stay but I am not sure whether I would stay again.

Met up with three friends for a pre-Christmas break. Afternoon tea was as good as that served in Fortnum and Masons. Served in lounge with roaring fire and big, squashy sofas. Evening Christmas meal was freshly cooked and served by Luke, a charming young waiter, who was always on hand to clear away dishes etc. Breakfast was, again, freshly cooked (one of our party had poached egg on toast).
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were friendly and welcoming. On an earlier visit, I had ordered the "dessert assiette" (see icehorsestud52) and was served with three beautifully arranged mini-desserts which were delicious. I always said it would be my dessert of choice at Ty Newydd.
