“Good trails but be careful with bike hire”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

I have been here mountain biking a number of times and find the trails fun and the cafe does huge portions of good cake. When trying to get my girlfriend into biking we hired one from the shop. The gears were in quite bad shape and when we returned it to the shop were fobbed off. The bikes are not cheap to hire and I would expect them to be in better condition. I wouldn't recommend bike hire from here but the trails are fun if you have your own bike.

“Awesome trails and cheap cake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Coed llandegla is a mountain bikers paradise. There are graded trails for families through to experienced riders. There is also a skills area with berms, table tops etc without lots of riding in between, a great idea. Even here, the boardwalk is not for the faint hearted.

The black trails are amazing and even the red are fast and furious. The cafe at the trailhead is really good although one of the female staff is mahoosively grumpy, this does not affect the portion size or the quality of the coffee. Parking is £4.50 so you may consider parking nearby and cycling in, the trails are free of charge.

You have to wear a helmet, use a good mountain bike and have a fully charged phone, you can get into real trouble if you are not paying attention - although on weekends there will be plenty of people passing to help you out if you leave your vehicle over the handlebars.

It seems walkers and birdwatchers are well catered for too here and have their own trails to keep them from under the wheels of the adrenalin fuelled bikers. It is not permitted to shoot ramblers in the woods whilst they stay off the bike trails.
