My husband and I went to this pub for a nice Sunday lunch sitting by the canal side and was very disappointed. The prices are very expensive for the poor quality of food.
I ordered a sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce which cost around £14; My peppercorn sauce was a dark brown colour and tasted like it was made with gravy granules and a few pepper corns mixed in.... the actual steak itself was meant to be Sirloin but it was far from being that; it was very very chewy and with loads of fat in it. Put me off my lunch.
My husband ordered a Welsh mixed grill which was about £15. It was was meant to have; gammon, liver, pork and sausage included... it came out with 4x large pieces of dry liver that still had bits of the artery included, 1x cheap dry sausages, gammon and lamb were not great but edible.
Drinks; my husband ordered a Thatchers Gold which is one of our home brewed ciders; It was definitely not Thatchers Gold.
I played it safe with a J2O
Felt like we were being ripped off
Service was quick and pleasant
The setting is beautiful, right next to the canal side and great location for a lovely walk. Its just a shame about the pub, it could be so much more than what it is.
