We stayed here (or rather I did as my wife partied on later than me!!) as our friends had a party in the nearby Forter Castle.
Arrived in the dark having negotiated some horrendous Scottish weather, complete with bad floods. A bit poorly lit outside and managed to walk through some potholes (i.e. deep puddles) around the car, but I was so glad to have made it, I wasn't too bothered. The cosy bar with real log fire and friendly bar staff made up for it quite nicely.
Our room was very nice, had a super kingsize bed and seemed to be pretty much waterproof. I only mention the latter point, as other guests at the party/hotel had to move room due to the rain coming in - others complained too with apparently little interest... One thing that did really turn my stomach though was the UHT milk that I tried to put in my coffee the 'morning after' - it came out in one gloop!!!
Breakfast was pretty decent and did the trick after copious amounts of booze and 3.5 h sleep!
The let-down for me though was the staff. With the exception of the man behind the bar, who was very helpful and friendly, the staff were not that friendly to be honest. For example, I don't remember ever checking out of a hotel and not being asked how my stay was...
The negatives I have highlighted are pretty minor (but make sure your milk is ok), and if I was in the area again, I wouldn't necessarily be put off staying again.
