A clean, quiet hotel with good service standards, adequate car parking and a functioning Wi-Fi facility. Stayed in a family room for one nite and cannot find any fault with the accommodation or service offered by the staff. Ps Ulster fry was Amazing.

Room Tip: Large family rooms.

I booked this hotel for the night of Sunday 13th October as we were due to depart on holiday from Aldergrove the next day with a check in at 5.am. We always stayed here when it was the Park Plaza when booking an early flight. As the Park Plaza, we never encountered any problems.

It is unfortunate to only be able to give one star to the Maldron but it is because we were unable to get any sleep due to a faulty, very large, external wall mounted fan. I don't know if it was related to extraction or air conditioning but it was it seemed to be vibrating so badly that the hotel wall was shaking and reverberating all around the bedrooms on the first floor so that it was like trying to sleep in the engine room of a ship.

Because we were having an early start the next morning, we ate an early meal in the restaurant and retired to our room at 8 pm. At first we thought the problem was related to our own air conditioning. We tried to turn it off and found that it was centrally controlled and the room controls had little effect on temperature or speed and it could not be turned off. At midnight we contacted reception where a very pleasant young man said he would try to turn the air conditioning off. He was unable to do this. In the meantime we had opened the double glazed window and found that the noise was much worse from outside as the source was this faulty fan mounted on the wall about 10-15 metres along from our room. We phoned through to reception again and it seemed like the receptionist was already aware of the source of the problem. He offered to give us another room on the other side of the corridor which, he said, would be quieter.
At about 1am we tried to settle down to sleep in the new room but, though the noise was less, being already sensitized to its rhythm we still found it difficult to sleep. At 4.30am we got up exhausted to face our day of travelling. An airport hotel is primarily about providing the conditions in which the customer can get a good night's sleep.

It is unfortunate that the main function of the hotel did not deliver because all other aspects were excellent. Reception staff were kind and helpful. The room was attractively furnished for an overnight stay with evidence of good housekeeping. The waitress in the The Stir Restaurant was exceptionally attentive and helpful and the food was so good. We ordered the Crab Linguine and it was just amazing - the best ever and the chef even came out to discuss the dish and check that we were enjoying it. At this stage we were very happy with the new Maldron Hotel.

We left the hotel feeling that when so many service staff were proud of their hotel and putting so much effort into giving excellent service, it was sad that lack of investment in the essential maintenance side of the operation was letting them down so badly and that there was no maintenance staff on call to deal with the situation.
In all, since the whole rationale of an airport hotel is to provide a good night's sleep we did not find this hotel fit for purpose.

I see that management at this hotel do leave replies on Tripadvisor and I sincerely hope it will be possible to be told when this defect will be fixed. Until I have been assured that maintenance issues have been given top priority, I would not wish to use the hotel again.

My partner and I decided to stay at this hotel as our flight coming back from a holiday was arriving at 3.00 am and we wanted somewhere close by to crash. However I made a mistake in the booking and stated my check in as the day we would technically be staying and not the correct night due to the time of check in. I admit this was my mistake but when I rang the hotel the next day I was informed that they would not change the dates and I would loose the full amount paid. We decided to stay anyway and made a second booking over the phone. The woman I spoke with was completely unhelpful and again the ONLY reason we stayed here was the location.
We checked in and paid for the room prior to flying out as we were also paying to park at the hotel while away. When we arrived at the hotel after the holiday the night porter informed me that there was no record of payment and asked me to pay again. Luckily I still had the receipt and could provide proof of payment as this was not a discussion I was in the mood for at 3.00 am.
When checking into the room we found it very small and the layout was very odd as the toilet was in a separate room to the wash basin and shower. However the bed was comfortable.
We had breakfast in the morning and it was very disappointing. The food was good but highly overpriced and there wasn't much of it as they didn't replace the buffet items when gone.

Overall I found this hotel to be very overpriced for what it is and the staff in general were very unhelpful. The hotel clearly relies on it's proximity to the airport and doesn't bother to try and please it's customers.

Stayed here for one night on room basis only as we were flying out very early next day and parked for 15 nights, and found prices very reasonable. .the rooms were very quiet and the beds really comfortable and spotless. Bathroom and toilet were seperate which was a good idea as partner likes to soak in the bath in peace. The staff here were very pleasant..We ate a snack in the bar which was good value, and if we wanted they would have served us a continental breakfast even though we were leaving at 5.30 am.As the hotel is only 50 metres from the airport we were able to walk to it in minutes. Would not hesitate to use this hotel again when next flying from Belfast international

Stayed overnight prior to flight next day late September.Having stayed last year when known as Park Plaza we were slightly apprehensive as had a bad experience.Staff unpleasant, meal in restaurant terrible and noisy due to a wedding taking place. This time what an improvement! From check in by a very pleasant foreign guy to comfortable, clean and quiet room and excellent meal in Stir restaurant this was a great start to our holiday. We commented to waitress in restaurant how much we enjoyed our meal and few minutes later chef himself came out to thank us for our positive comments.Menu was varied with great presentation and excellent quality.Overall a great improvement for food and stay.Maldron do a good deal for bed and breakfast and 8 days parking.

Professor Michael Porter - marketing guru at Harvard University has stated that businesses only have two options: Low cost or differentiation. He also warns that any that try to do both will fall between two stools and fail. The Maldron in Belfast is a classic case of a hotel that tries to charge high and deliver average. Brilliantly placed for the airport though nothing else (with no competition), it's easy to see how this can happen. The reception area is OK (though the low sun on October mornings highlights the DESPERATE need for a window cleaner) but once into the bedroom, the disconnect between pricing and quality delivered becomes apparent. TV's are guest house standard (small), WC and bathroom are separate and 1970's style, the pull up contraption that directs the water from the bath mixer tap to the shower almost needs a pair of pliers. Wifi is free (highly commendable - it's as vital as a bathroom for business travellers in this day and age) but painfully slow (though I was at the far end of the corridor so maybe a few boosters would solve the problem). All in all, the hotel needs to smarten up considerably to justify the rates - or else simply reduce them.

Room Tip: Try to get one near to wherever wifi will be better - not the end of the corridor.

Stayed in the hotel as we were exhibiting at a show there. I walked out of departure at Belfast airport to find the hotel is literally a walk across the zebra crossing. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff are very friendly. My only very slight complaint would be that at breakfast when bread, juice etc had run out they had to be reminded to fill it up again and this took some time. Although the breakfast all in all was very nice. I would definitely stay at this hotel if I was in the area again. Oh and one last thing don't let the locality to the airport put you off, as you cant hear a thing from your rooms.
