“Small & Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

As the name suggests, a country house in Strathblane - in need of a bit of TLC and a gardener, but the place was clean and the staff were friendly and breakfast was good. The bedroom was large and the bed was a big comfortable, oak sleigh bed. Bathroom could have used a coat of paint. A big old country house having to lower prices to get customers in the present tough market - visit while these place survive.

We attended a wedding reception and evening entertainment and can recommend this venue .
The staff were very efficient and helpful. One small downside is the poor wheelchair access and if this was improved then it would be excellent.
Our experience at the hotel was overall very good. The food was excellent and bar areas very comfortable.

We had a lovely 2 night stay here, room was very spacious & clean. Not the most modern if your looking for that. However the bed was very "comfy" and Big...the staff were very friendly. The only thing was we didn't realise the special price on our deal meant that we ended up paying extra for out starters & sweets. The fact that you have to pay for vegetables to go with your dinner annoys the hell out of me. Its very common these days for that to be par for the course. Apart from that, its a lovely wee hotel in nice surroundings, its just a shame that the flower fountain at the front door looked like it hadn't been weeded in years. Nice friendly wee cat though.

Room Tip: Front facing Room is best.

We had a nice stay in this country style hotel. A few reviews on here are a bit harsh on the rooms, which are a little tired and dated, but probably fits with this style of hotel! Our room was huge, and very clean! The surroundings of the hotel are very nice! We had a good meal in the restaurant and sitting in the bar with open fire was great (the cat is real!). Staff very friendly! Only 1 small complaint, was the water pressure in the shower was really poor. We got the It Is On deal which we felt was probably fair in terms of value, if we'd paid full price we might have felt different!

Just back from an overnight at this hotel. The staff were lovely and so warm and welcoming. Got a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite which was stunning a lovely wee surprise on my birthday. The meal was delicious and the waitress was lovely. We had some drinks in the hotel bar and this was so relaxing. Breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice and took our coffee outside which was so tranquil. The hotel cat was a lovely extra. Would definitely return fantastic deal through itison. Thank you to all the staff for making this a lovely evening

I only found out about this hotel through itison where i booked a voucher for my partners birthday. It included 1 nights stay, a steak dinner with a glass of wine each and also a full scottish breakfast in the morning for £69.
When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted by a pleasant member of staff who made us feel welcome.
We went to our room to drop off of our bags and were very surprised at how huge the rooms were. It was decorated to a more traditional standard which i loved and the bathroom was also on the large size. The bed in the room was a king size and very comfortable, i actually didnt want to get out of it in the morning!!
Me & my partner went down to the bar which had a gorgeous seating area next to a large fireplace which was very homely so we sat there and had a few drinks before dinner. I would maybe recommend getting a better selection of draught beers as he didnt like any of the choices which were Carling and Best! Not really great options.
The dinner itself was nice although we werent allowed to substitute the steak for anything else even though his was the most expensive dish on the menu (this was stipulated on the voucher so were made aware of this) The chef was happy to make a diane sauce for us and cooked the steak perfectly. We also got the mackerel to start which wasnt worth the £6 price tag but it was nice enough. The desserts didnt seem homemade and again £6 for a bought in apple pie was a bit steep.
I would recommend going to this hotel as it is in a beautiful part of the country with beautiful surroundings. They even have a little bird centre next to it and for £20 you can fly the falcons, owls and such for an hour! The staff are very friendly and attentive but not overbearing which i normally hate, i like to be looked after but not annoyed which they didnt do :) i will be telling everyone about the Strathblane as its a wonderful wee treat :)
Thanks again xx
