“Long walk to the castle but you can get a ferry back!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Lovely views. It took about an hour to walk with the dog along the spit (gravel and stones are a bit hard going) but there is a regular ferry service to take you back if you prefer. Which we did!

“A Good Day out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2013

Hadn't visited the castle since my boyhood. Took the little ferry from Keyhaven as I didn't fancy the walk along the shingle bank ( as you grow older ) Still found the place interesting, so much history. Make sure you pick a fine day to visit.

“Super Views and lovely TeaRoom”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

When visiting the South Coast, one must not miss Keyhaven and Hurst Castle. The walk on the damn is quite challenging but you are rewarded with super views across to the Isle-of-Wight, towards the West towards Bournemouth and to the East you can see Lymington and the Salt Marshes. Absolutely worth the visit.

“A Long Walk But Worth It”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

A hidden gem (well not really hidden but off the beaten track!) at the far end of a shingle beach but once there worth every minute. The ramparts are huge and there remain some of the guns from the batteries. It is also possible to get there by small boat if don't fancy the walk.

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2013

We have walked to the castle many times before but never tire of the visits. We love the views of the needles and the river as you amble along with many people saying hello along the way. You can watch as the Isle of Wight ferry makes it's way through the harbour, navigating the many boats moored up. You also have a light house at the end, my wife loves lighthouses so she loves to visit this castle as well. There are many species of wildfowl to spot as you walk along and if you get tired there is a little boat to take you back to town after your visit.
