“Enjoyable Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

The food is the best, the reception is warm and service is impeccable. This is our second annual foray to this restaurant and we were not disappointed. Our party of 7 were unanimous in proclaiming the food as excellent. We are already preparing for next year's excursion to this diamond in the rough (Ricky, Moneyhill Parade and its dearth of parking).

“As Italian as sticky toffee pudding”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

For a restaurant to survive as long as Roberto's in such a location it needs a faithful clientele who like what it does. I suspect that the menu at Roberto's hasn't changed much over the years other than the prices going due north. It therefore satisfies the requirement of being reliable and reassuringly expensive as a venue for that special occasion. I bet it does a bomb on Valentine's Day and Mothering Sunday. The cooking is competent but unimaginative. The service amateurish, at times laughable, but agreeable. Anti pasti misto was more
like a plate of hors d'oevres variee from a bygone day, a selection of bits and pieces worthy of any 3 star provincial hotel back in the seventies. Indeed it typified the rest of the meal. Cooking skill is minimal, nothing is technically demanding of the kitchen, it is more about assembly of for the most part quality ingredients. At around £17 for a main course with veg extra I would expect more added value from conspicuous culinary expertise. A limoncello cheesecake was neither cheesecake nor evocative of limoncello. I suspect it was bought in, as was the sticky toffee pudding which was actually quite good. We were being treated ( it was a special occasion) and I suspect the bill for 4 for 3 courses, 4 aperitifs, one bottle of wine, but no coffee was easily in excess of £150. The staff bid us farewell far more warmly than they greeted us perhaps because they knew it would be the last time they would see us.

Many Thanks for your time to write a review , as we kindly take onboard all thoughts and criticisms to better our standards.
As it is clear that you are very familiar with restaurants and food, you will understand that fresh produce is not cheap to buy, prepare and cook to a quality standard, that is what makes the difference with us is the freshness of every dish, however there are restaurants that offer a £5 meal in the local area but i would not like to speculate the contents.
As our food is all fresh and locally sourced we find that messing about with it becomes unnecessary and keeping simple yet flavorsome works without spoiling the dish.
But if you are ever passing by feel free to pop in and i could show you how we make our sticky toffee pudding.... perhaps its not an Italian dish, but it is what our customers like and cant be too bad as we have served for 34 years and counting. For your records, an Antipasti Misto is and Italian “hors d oeuvres” Regards Tim

“Fantastic food and service, a real local gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

My girlfriend and I ate here on Saturday night and were very impressed. The food was fresh, plentiful and expertly cooked whilst the service and atmosphere were similar to top restaurants in London. Family run, warm and unassuming, this is somewhere we'll certainly be visiting on a regular basis.

“This is a treat! Real fine dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013 via mobile

My husband took me here for the first time for our anniversary , he had obviously phoned ahead to book as it was packed, and they had ready a half bottle of champagne for us... So cute , the menu is fantastic with a great specials board, We had crab then mixed grill and snapper! Was to die for my only critisism was that I had no space for dessert! The staff we elegant and well polished
And the wines were suggested by the head waiter who got it spot on! Thanks can't wait for the next excuse to go!
