“Superb and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2010

We had a superb stay for long weekend. The hotel has very modern fixtures and fittings all to a very high standard, and the staff are superb, the bar/ restuarant manager in particular really looked after us. Whether you are looking to chill and read the sunday papers over coffee or sit in the bar and chat this place has it all. The only negatives I would say is that some new carpets wouldnt go amiss and on our last morning there the owners daughter (I think) was in charge of breakfast which took ages! We intended to eat in the restuarant a couple of times but the food was so good and such good value (dont believe the reports otherwise!) that weate there every evening!

I had the castle room and was impressed by the size and quality and how quiet it was at night .Being on a budget i had dinner at the pub across the road . I can recommend this hotel as a base for exploring the Devon and Dartmoor region . The space , grace and class of this hotel really met my expectations of what a true boutique english hotel ought to be.

This is a gem of a hotel. Set in beautifully landscaped grounds, the hotel is an imposing building. The staff were welcoming and very warm and friendly, the room was immaculate, spacious, and you just sunk into the bed! The food was great, a romantic resteraunt, with a great choice on the menu. I would thoroughy recommend this hotel for literally any kind of trip - business, romance, leisure - you will not be disappointed!

This hotel is fabulous!
Our room was huge and well appointed with a wonderful bathroom, very comfortable beds and spotlessy clean. The staff were very courteous and friendly and could not have made us feel more welcome. We had dinner in the hotel which was very nice and the bar area was lit with candles which added a nice touch.
The grounds to this hotel are spectacular and well maintained. A beautiful place for a wedding.....would definetly re-visit and tell our friends.

This is the best hotel we have ever stayed in this country so far..! Felt its 4 star rating is a little underrated... 5 star fits the bill more!

Greeted warmly upon arrival.. room was splendid, bed was Queen size and has bath tub and seperate shower as well. Very clean and classy feel all around. We were even provided with our choice of newspaper for the following morning. Breakfast was served in very professional manner, and food was fantastic. I had the salmon which was very delicious.
Best part is.. only cost use £54 for 2 of us per night!
