Room was very smelly , badly in need of fresh air. Smell probably linked aging carpet flooring but this is just a speculation. Opened the top windows to try to correct the situation only to be welcomed by the loud buzz of an outside air extractor.

Overrated but practical if you have business to attend to in Charlton Kings.

Avoid otherwise.

We were invited to a ball at this hotel, and were looking forward to staying in a four star hotel, on arrival, the receptionists who were both foreign, were bickering between themselves, we went to our room, which was small, no mini bar, hardly any coffee and tea, and the bathroom was in great need of redecoration, the bath was small with tiles coming off the side of it, not very nice at all. We had an evening meal in the hotel as we had arrived too late to go and find somewhere else, all waiting staff were foreign, had trouble understanding us. Meal was ok, wine was very expensive, but beer was reasonable. The food at the ball the following night was excellent, so why couldnt they do that on a normal night. Everyone was complaning that the bar staff are very slow, it wasnt they were slow, they just didnt have enough staff on duty. Wouldnt really recommend this hotel to any of my friends, and certainly isnt worth its 4 stars.

I regularly stay at the Cheltenham Park on business. My stay is usually ok, but the most recent one was very poor indeed.

On checking in, I went to my room to discover it had a terrible smell (it smelt like somebody had been sick there). I went back to the desk and asked to change rooms - I was told that the hotel was fully booked, but they eventually gave me a different room (and said that someone hadn't checked in yet, so he would have to have the sick-smelling room!!).

My next room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke, despite the room being a non-smoking one. I spoke to two other colleagues who said that their rooms both smelt of cigarettes too, so we were unsure as to whether the smell was caused by other guests or members of staff at the hotel!

We ordered a taxi for the evening, which the hotel forgot to arrange as well.

Hopefully this is just a 'one-off' staffing problem and it will be back to its normal standard next visit.

We stayed at the hotel for a function. The accomodation was fine, although the refreshments in the rooms were rather sparce (a few coffee/sugar packs which were not replenished and two tea bags/biscuits). Everywhere appeared clean. Breakfast was excellent, buffet at the weekend & waitress service weekdays. The down side was the evening meals. Friday night in the resaurant was a very limited menu with portions hardly big enough to feed a sparrow (no, not Nouveu Cuisine standard either). The meal for the function was a poor, old style school dinner!
By all means stay at the hotel but book 'bed & breakfast' and eat elsewhere in the evenings!
