We chose to stay at the Lime Tree in Lenham because the rooms looked contemporary, clean and a bit different from the style of rooms offered in the surrounding pubs which usually have blue flowered carpet, pine furniture and wallpaper with borders, so when we were given our rooms numbers 8 + 9, I was disappointed to say the least, as what we got was, blue flowered carpet, pine furniture and wallpaper with borders !! As it happened we were down in Lenham attending a party and having arrived late we did not spend any time in the room that night, but when I got back, I tried to turn off the wall light and it would not switch off, so had to remove the bulb from the fitting which was hanging off the wall !
Next day whilst I was packing, I noticed that under the throw on the bed there was a big dirty brown mark on the outside of the duvet cover....mmm..had it been washed I wondered ? Anyway, although I mentioned the light fitting to the lady at reception I did not mention my disappointment, as on this occasion it was a place to sleep rather than spend any time in, however in hindsight I do think we were ripped off as at GBP75 per room per night its a bit excessive and I do think the hotel should not pass these rooms off at the same price as their featured website rooms....no photos of my room on their site.
I would only recommend this hotel if you can get one of the contemporary rooms as they look lovely on the website.
