2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

I stayed here in 2011 and remember thinking it was really clean and modern. Fast forward to June 2nd 2013 and it needs a good scrub. The sofa in my room was absolutely filthy, as was the chair. The room also stank of cigs (i'm not a smoker). Yes the hotel is cheap, and the furniture matches it, but keep it fresh and well maintained. The staff on the other hand were very friendly. I'd probably stay again just because the first time was so nice but if there was no improvement i wouldn't return again. Good staff, smelly & scruffy room.

This is a budget hotel and in many ways it shows. The interior is clean and functional, services basic - even a peppermint tea was beyond them and no decent coffee. Breakfast again is basic and included in the rate, no wifi in the room. You get what you pay for! Room though was a good size and clean. The staff here were great - friendly, cheerful and helpful at all times. If you're looking for a cheap stopover then recommended.

Enjoyed our recent stay here. The staff were helpful and efficient, room and bathroom very clean and comfortable. Closing the bedroom window shut out the traffic noise totally. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Good to note that rooms for smokers are available.
Good value for money with advance rate of £65 per night.

Great value as free car parking and breakfast is included in room rate as this is an HIX. Usual HIX standard offering, I will have no problems staying here again in the future.

Building looks old etc from the outside, obviously not always a Holiday Inn Hotel, but don't worry as inside everything was fresh, clean and welcoming, both communal areas and bedrooms were fine.

I chose hotel as near to Manston (MSE) Kent international airport, KLM flights 0620 + 1040 to Amsterdam, just a 10minute, 3mile drive. Hotel has free parking, and opposite hotel is a petrol station, with attached co-op mini supermarket and also McDonalds.

Nice friendly staff, easy checkin and checkout, no issues with bill which was correct with inroom movie purchases and bar/restaurant chits I signed for. Bar is extension of reception desk like several other HIX's I have stayed at, nice to have draft beer, even better hotel bars sometimes only sell bottled beers.

Room a reasonable HIX size (I've had smaller), small double bed, 2-seater sofa bed, lots of lighting, bathroom in all the rooms is shower only , no bath (I asked at reception). Plenty of instant hot water and a thick towel for a HIX.

Room had workdesk/chair, flatscreen TV, with usual freview channels. In-room ethernet cable internet £4.95, or £9.95 if you buy 24hr movie/internet package. Good selection of movies, & TV has keyboard to double as a computer if you have no laptop.

HIX inclusive breakfast in morning, not great, not bad, scambled eggs, baked beans, sausages, cereal, tinned grapefruit, croisants etc. Saying not great as I found sausages below par and had to leave mine. Rest of breakfast was finet. Everything being replenished regularly.

Room Tip: No scenaric views, all rooms same, thus any room should do.

Uninspiring approach and building. Once inside that all changes and the welcoming staff at reception are very efficient.

The room we had on the ground floor was quiet, clean and modern. My only (very minor) complaint in the room was that there was only one coffee sachet each of normal and decaf coffee and two tea bags. This doesn’t quite go far enough if you both want a coffee or one of you wants a strong coffee. The room was comfortable, it even had a sofa bed and there was plenty of room to relax in there.

After arriving and surveying the bleak surroundings, despite appearing to be on the edges of an airfield, military grounds and vast farming fields, I was pleasantly surprised that the hotel was only about a 15 to 20 minute walk from the nearest town. A walk into town turned up a couple of restaurants, take away’s and a pub.

The breakfast was a serve yourself buffet. It was quite busy, but a short wait each time and all the essentials were continually topped up.

I paid just over £60 for a Saturday night B&B for two.

stayed last night. £59 for 2 adults and 1 child with breakfast - at £20 per head I thought it was good value for money.
Pleasant staff, quick check in and a room on the ground floor.
The room was quiet bu they forgot to put a douvet on the child bed which was a little odd, and there was a questionable stain on the woodwork in the bathroom which i cleaned off!
i like the design of holiday inn express, the dual bathroom door and the rail rather than wardrobe makes the room feel more spaciuos especially when there is a pull out bed taking up most of the floor space.
the beds were comfy and the shower was good which is what you need from a budget stay.
One of the tv channels didnt work...
The breakfast was fine (cereal, yoghurt, fruit, cheese, pastries, egg beans and sauasge) and it was good to see the staff running around replenishing stocks. Try the granary bread at breakfast, it was excellent quality and delicious!
when we are back in the area we will go again because of the great value and positive experience

Great value for money, except fifteen pound a night for our dog Woofie, which is disgusting when you consider children are free cause more problems with cots etc and noise. Few problems with blocked sink which wouldn't matter if there over night, but we were in for four nights. Food good well priced. Service for meals rather chaotic but they tried their best. Wi fi intermittent and non existent in rooms. Plug in Internet five pound a night in room.
Didn't appreciate lecture from reception even before Woofie had entered building about how she would have to sleep in car if noisy. Hmmm...try telling that to the people with the very noisy unruly kids. But main thing as was just a bed for night good value.

Room Tip: All the same.
