As we arrived, we were greeted with, well a "frosty" reception, the lady who dealt with us at reception explained to us that there was a live band as we were probably explained to us when we booked, I explained that we hadn't been told anything, to which I was informed that there was a function on with a live band that would be on til around midnight but that she'd put us in the back of the hotel. I did expect a bit of noise being above a pub but if I was informed of the band when I'd booked then I probably would of looked elsewhere if i'm honest.
We were also informed that the reception was only open til 10pm but nothing explained to us what we do if we needed someone in an emergency etc.
We went out for a meal and arrived back at around 10pm, yes the band was still going on but we also had extra noise....from the kitchen, clashing, banging, the rubbish being taken out and even heard a staff member whistling.
As I tried to get to sleep the mattress was quite springy, also I needed an extra pillow but as the reception shut at 10pm, I searched the rooms but no joy!
In the morning, once the band had gone and kitchen empty, it was soooo peaceful, just a shame it wasn't like that the night before!
The room was clean and a nice size and the bathroom was lovey and modern.
On checkout, again not really a very welcoming goodbye, not even asked if we'd had a good stay.
If warned in advance about the band and maybe not being put right by what I only assumed was the kitchen with the clashing of pans and pots and had a more friendly welcome, then we would possibly stay again.

We firstly apologise regarding the situation with a function being held with us during your particular stay. We are as a company are usually very attentive to such incidents with the prevention of disruption for guests before they arrive. Our policy is to correspond with guests via email or telephone to make them aware if there is a function during their stay. This gives you the option to choose whether to amend your booking once provided with such information and we are deeply apologetic and regretful if this information did not reach you prior to your stay as you suggest.
In terms of being informed that reception was only open until 10pm we stress that this is not the case. Our reception shuts at 12 midnight (probably later in this instance due to the function being held and if approached any member of staff will be willing to help with any issues or questions) it is our restaurant that stops serving at 10pm in the evening, both pieces of information are given verbally upon check in to all guests. Emergency reception is available 24 hours a day via the telephone link from your bedroom. All of this is explained in the welcome information sheet that is placed in the hotel bedrooms. Here you would have found the extension for reception, emergency reception and the opening and closing times for reception and the restaurants.
In terms of kitchen noise we will most certainly be looking into your comments. As we have said the restaurant and kitchens do close at 10pm, the time you returned to your room so we do hope any disruption was minimal although our soundproofing should prevent any noise from areas below rooms at any time in the day, we will investigate make sure this is the case.
We are glad you found the room to your liking and we apologise that a few very avoidable occurrences effected your stay negatively.
