“Very good but needs menu changes”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

Really very good food and ambiance but dessert menus limited and after several visits in the first 6 weeks had hoped to find menu changes. Specials a bit expensive though good but often no longer available due to popularity. Expect about £35 per head with wine. Lunch sandwiches need a knife and fork and again don't change. Lunch with a pint and a sandwich expect to pay about £10. Nice but needs variation. We think this a huge improvement on the past .It's a pity they can't (or could they) use the Parish Council owned grass area behind the car park as there is no outside dining except on the roadside. Better food than Spotted Cow but bettered by Swallows return choices but for those like us who prefer to eat without driving this is good.

Many thanks to the reviewer for the kind comments made. Our policy is to change our menu's every 7 to 8 weeks, this was done last week and the new menu has roughly a 50% change to the original on both lunch and dinner menu's. We have taken note about our specials running out and will endevour to ensure they are in better supply. The aim at The Lamb at Angmering is to have fairly short menus' changing regularly and always to cook locally sourced produce from freshly delivered ingredients.
With regard to the parish garden at the back of the pub, thanks for the comment, we are on exactly the same wave length. We are drawing up plans for terrace dining at the edge of the park, diners and drinkers will be able to look directly into it. Current discussions are ongoing. We expect to make significant changes to our outside table availability with the addition of an enclosed 'Garden Terrace' seating around 36 people taking a few spaces from the current car park and building a stepped terrace. Our new enclosed seating area we anticipate, will be available for spring 2013.

“Gastro pub in Angmering”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

This pub caters above the Spotted Cow and below Angmering Manor so now there is a lot of choice. Good food where taste is more important than quantity.

“Well worth a visit or two!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

I live in Angmering and I am so pleased that we finally have a decent pub worth visiting!! The bar area is the perfect place to have a good night catching up with friends. The interior is elegant and light - something that many pubs lack and the transformation is just incredible! Before its reopening it was always one to avoid but now its a must! I had some friends come to visit me and they stayed in one of the rooms there and they said that they were delighted that they chose to stay there, saying the rooms were clean, fresh and more than comfortable with lovely views of the village.

Not only has my experience of drinking in the pub been excellent but the food in the restaurant is out of this world! I've been out to dinner with a group of friends and my family here several times because once you've tried the food here its hard to keep away! The dishes served look almost too good to eat and you can understand why it is priced slightly higher than your average pub - it is well worth dining here than anywhere else in the village simply for the quality of the food!

Finally, to top it all off every member of staff is as delightful as the next..their always smiling, friendly, professional and happy to help!! I would recommend this gastro pub to anyone and everyone, it is simply incredible and well worth a visit whether your local or visiting!!

“A Touch of Class”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2012

This pub/gastro pub recently opened in our village. What a transformation from a dark and dingy to classy !
The refurbishment is amazing, clean, stylish, classic and an amazing atmosphere.

I have had a meal or 2 in the restaurant and have visited the bar section a few times. The food prices are above that of the average pub, but this is not your average pub! Definitely try the Chocolate and Hazelnut Tart - it is to die for!
The Lamb at Angmering is definitely worth a visit. A classy bar withour TV 's blarring and the common slot machines in the conner - a real Touch of Class.

So good to see how well the locals are supporting Lamb at Angmering

“Don't bother!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2012

Can not agree with reviews. I live in Angmering and I think these people giving reviews must be visiting. It has got too poncy. Food really expensive. When I went in Skate wing and hand cut chips were on the menu for about £14.00. Posh Fish and chips. do they think they can charge more because the chips are 'hand cut'. I do mine at home like that!! There may be posh areas of Angmering but I don't think you will be seeing the original people who frequented the Lamb. Or is that what they are trying to do? People round here like 'pub grub' .Qails eggs and mussels in chardonnay are definately not for us. Also not much seating outside which will not go down welll with smokers but again maybe these are the people they want to get rid of!! I know the Lamb has had some changes over the years but sorry I don't think this new look will last either. Also now they have made one side a restaurant the other is not bigger enough. I went in there about 5.30pm and all seats were taken. Probably enough seating for about 20 people. Drinks expensive too. Take out a mortgage if you want to visit this pub and mind your Ps & Qs!!!

We were sorry to read that the reviewer above does not like the newly renovated Lamb at Angmering. We think the reviewer has looked at a menu but has not eaten in the pub. The reviewer makes no comment about the quality of the food or of the standard of the service so it is difficult to understand how they can give the restaurant such a low rating. The reviewer simply states that the menu is expensive. We conducted extensive research around the area before pricing our menu and we are confident our pricing is very competitive to similar Gastro Pubs from the surrounding area. Our fish and chips is £12, The Skate dish the reviewer mentions was a special on the dinner menu for the day. The mussels in garlic, chardonnay, cream, chives and crusty bread has been one of our best sellers, the Angmering residents love the dish.
Our bar has seating for 34 people and we have increased the outside seating from the previous owners. We have also created a seperate smoking area which the village smokers have complimented us on. The reviewer is correct about one thing, we do not like people swearing in our pub and recently had to point out to a lady that she should be more careful on her choice of words.
Finally, I am sorry the reviewer was unable to get a seat at 5.30pm, Since opening some 7 weeks ago The Lamb at Angmering has become very popular, we do all we can to provide seating for all of our visitors.
