“very warm and welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

stayed at the Guidhall Tavern last weekend. We really had a lovely time. Bedroom was great, food very good and staff were very warm, inviting and helpful.
There is a fab shop- not to be missed called Baroque- very close to hotel. anything from wonderful house furnishings to jewellery to clothes to greetings cards. Worth a visit.

A warm welcome from very friendly staff. Pet friendly hotel (even the dog was served at breakfast). quirky well decorated rooms in a 17th century coaching house. All rooms individually tastefully decorated, in style with this historic building.
Breakfast was second to none, full Welsh or the usual cereals and fruit juices.
Well presented tasty food served in the evening.
I really can't find fault, except for the limited parking, which can be over come.
Our room was in the eves of the roof, so positioned that the substantial bathroom was opposite, not that this caused us a problem. I do believe that the majority of rooms were totally en suite.
May be the only down side we're the stairs that could cause a problem for those with limited mobility.
I would certainly stay in this hotel again

My husband and I have just returned from a Groupon stay for two nights, We were very impressed with the hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the food was absolutely top notch. We would and will recpmmend this hotel, in fact we are going to arrange to come over with some friends, for lunch. It will be well worth the hours drive. The weather was dreadful, the worse storm for thirty years, during our stay, however the Tavern more than made up for it.

Everything about our stay was wonderful, the staff very friendly and laid back, the room comfortable and very clean, the breakfast - hearty. But it is the evening meals we took here that amazed us, we were not expecting such a high standard of fare for such a reasonable price, the lamb is heaven on a plate! Looking forward to a return visit One point - make sure you take a hair dryer. And when in Denbigh do visit the castle ruin as it worth it.

Had a lovely meal here on Saturday evening. Food was fabulous and staff very friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend it for a meal. Would recommend you pre book a taxi home if you are not staying within walking distance, we got caught out and couldn't get back to our cottage but the manager kindly stepped in and took us home - many thanks!

Stayed for a couple of nights with my partner, as part of a Groupon voucher.
The first experience was that parking facilities were limited, it was a not insurmountable problem as (whilst not ideal) public spaces are available nearby. Staff were welcoming and we were soon shown to our room, which unusually had been named instead of numbered. Accommodation was good, but would have benefited from the inclusion of a small chest of drawers.
The evening menu was good and the food was excellent (hot food was served on hot plates - other establishments take note!) and reasonably priced - the breakfast menu was varied and also well presented. The dining room, with wood panelling, whilst in keeping with the heritage of the building seemed sombre and could do with being `lifted` a little.
The dining and licensed facilities are also open to the public which adds to the atmosphere, with the Guildhall (after a local recce) standing head and shoulders above the rest. We would dine there again. For those who may be interested, some decent beer is available too.

My boyfriend and I stayed here as a part of a groupon voucher for 2 nights with breakfast. It was a wonderful place and a great jumping point for exploring Northern Wales. The staff were friendly and helpful and the our room was wonderful. The room was clearly recently renovated and the bathroom was great. The breakfast was a nice start to our day. We had dinner both nights in the restaurant downstairs and it was quite tasty! There's very limited space for parking, but we made it work. I would definitely recommend staying here!
