We have been visiting the Castle Kitchen for many years. I believe it has been under different ownership, but still maintains the same ethos and atmosphere. This is my first review of the Castle Kitchen since becoming a reviewer on tripadvisor.
Sadly on this occasion we only called in for a coffee and teacake late morning, following a walk with a local walking group.
Lovely atmosphere - warm woodburner downstairs - lucky enough to be near it as there were a few snow flurries that day. Not many tables downstairs, but further ones upstairs.
On past visits I have sampled their lunches, always very tasty, different from other places. Cakes and puddings are fantastic, especially if you have a had a walk up to the castle (you can drive up if you need to).
On warm sunny days (are these still available in the UK ?) you can sit out and eat in the garden.
They used to open on Friday and Saturday evenings years ago, for more formal dining, but sadly they don't now. I did notice on a website (loads more info and pictures) that bookings are available for larger groups and pictures of candle lit tables. Perhaps check with them about this.
I'm local, so lucky, but if you are travelling through and in that area, it is worth a detour to Montgomery, to see the town and enjoy either a snack or lunch at the Castle Kitchen.
