“Two Night Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

Lovely Hotel and scenic views. Would recommend a Loch view as Hotel is situated by a busy road which is quite noisy. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Ate Breakfast and Dinner in Hotel, could not fault it, was also pleased they did half size meal portions. We stayed on the top floor, no lift and a curving staircase.. we managed fine with our small bags but larger suitcases may struggle especially on the way down. Room was clean, looked recently to have been done up but bathroom could have done with some tlc but again it was clean. Free Wi-Fi also.
Hotel had pretty grounds, nice seating area outside. There was a private beach, felt more could have been done with this area. When we visited there was an abundance of moon jellyfish on the beach although they aren't dangerous to humans they still do sting, there was a lot of dogs at the Hotel and it was a bit worrying there was no signs warning visitors. Plenty of parking available at Hotel also.
Thanks for a lovely visit and we look forward to returning :)

Room Tip: Ask for loch side room to avoid road noise.

Spectacular location - beautiful, and handy on the way up to/back from the Isles, either by road or the Corram ferry.

It should be packed, but wasn't, which I can only think is down to the food/service? Venison burgers were bland, weren't asked how we wanted them cooked, asked for one without cheese, but it came with, chips were anaemic...Haggis balls were mostly coating. Weren't offered more drinks, despite the place being empty - they could've got another round out of us.

If I were in the hotel trade I'd take it over as so much potential!

just stayed over for the one night, but thoroughly enjoyed it. weather was warm and sunny and when its like this, there aren't many places more picturesque. views from the gardens are stunning.
staff were very friendly and attentive. have stopped by for a bar lunch previously and the food was very good, however, on this occasion our evening meal was overly fancy and not quite up to the standard of our previous visit.
our room faced the loch and was fine, but I imagine rooms facing the road would suffer from traffic noise.

Room Tip: book one of the loch facing rooms

This is a fantastic hotel on the way up to Fort William with picture postcard views, I stayed 2 nights, The food was great value, as was the Hotel price,The photo is from room 25 and I think you will agree they are fantastic. This hotel is ideal for stopping off on the way up to the Western Highlands.

Room Tip: Ask for room 25,26,27 and get the room with a view...

Stayed on our recent trip to Scotland, lovely old hotel but on a noisy main road, ask for a rear room if you can. The restaurant food was great and the staff helpful and friendly. The view over the loch is lovely, enjoyed our one night stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back as the road noise can be loud if you want to open a window.

Some years ago, the Onich Hotel did a great trade in bar food and no wonder - the food was excellent. Last week, it was plain awful and the place was virtually deserted. At £17 odd for a two-course bar lunch, it was also money down the drain.

I ordered for the main course haddock that was supposed to be in crispy batter. What turned up was a fish of questionable age in a thick, rubbery batter that would have stretched from Fort William to Malaya.

Never again!

Room Tip: Check out the food before you book a room.

Stayed for one night following completion of the challenge. Rooms were average, however the service and food was excellent. We had a lovely meal, friends said the steak was superb and the haggis starter and venison dish was excellent. Service was a little below par due to change and launch of menu, however it didn't take away from stay. Breakfast was also excellent with great quality local ingredients. Breakfast staff were very attentive and gave great service. The views were also spectacular to wake up to. Thank you for a lovely "short" stay.
