“Oh Dear! Oh Dear!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Call me old fashiond but-! Firstly I think the Manager of any Hotel should look presentable on welcoming his guests. Not unshaven and casually dressed at 3pm in the afternoon! The Manager turned into "Chef" at night! Secondly- The barman stroke waiter was dressed in jeans and a black shirt hanging over his trousers! He claims to have worked in a Michelin Star Restaurant in Germany?? What a pity they didn't teach him how to set a table correctly?? I am sure if he had Michelin Star experience he would know how to dress as a Waiter and it would not be by wearing jeans and a shirt not tucked into his trousers serving Dinner to guests! I am also sure that in the Michelin Star Restaurant he was not taught to clean the table with his squirty bottle and cloth before the customers had left the table!!Thirdly the young Spanish man with little understanding of the Breakfast Menu or the English language was well out of his depth in the Dining Room ! How on earth would he cope with a bus party of guests? Next comment is that it would have been nice to have had the coal fire on in the lounge on such a cold and miserable night instead of an empty fire grate with used ashes lying in it? Why could this not have been cleaned out and reset ready for use? It's not as if the Hotel was busy? A few constructive criticisms which could easily be rectified and in our opinion would make such a difference! I think a woman's touch is needed for the finer details!

Room Tip: Ask if you can see rooms first then decide.

Just returned from a 2 day break that I bought through ITISON as a birthday treat for my dad's birthday. The hotel is lovely, really clean with stunning views that you never get sick of looking at. Was met by the Manager, who very kindly offered a ground floor room for my parents at no extra cost as the room was an upgrade on our deal - it was brillant. Our room was a club room and was gorgeous with amazing bay windows and a view to die for. All the staff in the hotel including the Manager are lovely, friendly, helpful and made our stay fantastic - what a team they are!!
The food in the restaurant is amazing & presentation is superb. All the other guests we spoke to were all impressed with the hotel, food & most of all the staff!!
Will definitley go back and would recommend this to anyone

Room Tip: Go for a club room - amazing views and loads of room

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lodge on the Loch. The staff went out of their way to ensure that our stay was exceptional. The food was delicious in the Sea Salt Cafe and I would highly recommend the sea bass.
A small, cosy well stocked bar and reasonable prices just ask Josh for advice on whisky and david and Leon for advice on anything else .

The hotel seems to have different standards within each category of room.
We unfortunately had one of the lower quality rooms which were definitely not worth the money having been charged £30 to upgrade to the “Deluxe” room which had a spa bath which did not work, no usable shower, wrong toilet seat which was loose, towels like sandpaper and a basin waste plug which was stuck in the hole. The advertised Bathrobes were missing.
I pointed out several problems both with accommodation and services and the manager who has just phoned me accepts some of the criticism but gave no apology!!
The one member of staff I dealt with was unhelpful and did not get the manager to contact me when I asked.

Room Tip: Avoid room 18 as a Deluxe Room

We had stayed at this hotel 4 years ago and absolutely loved it. This time we got an itison voucher and an upgrade to a club room for an extra £20. When we arrived at around 2.15pm there was no one at the check in desk to greet us, there was a confused Spanish waiter who was trying to help however he couldn't answer any questions about the room I had booked. We sat waiting for about 40 mins until someone could help us check in, it ended up being the same waiter as the manager hadn't come back yet. Later on when the manager was finally at the check in desk we tried to talk to him to check we had been given the correct room as we had requested an upgrade and to try and clarify when we were to pay the £20 and when breakfast was. He was also Spanish so his English was broken and made communication difficult and I just got the feeling they didn't care about welcoming guests and providing decent service.
Also just a small thing but the club room is supposed to have bathrobes provided which I asked the manager about and he said he had tried to get that removed from the website as they don't have any bathrobes. He managed to find 1 which was delivered about 9pm that night. On the plus side the room was lovely and the spa bath worked perfectly.

Just returned from a mid week break and after reading some of the reviews was wandering if we had chosen the best venue, however, the staff, food and surroundings were faultless look forward to a return trip

Room Tip: I tried to upgrade however nothing available, the standard room did not disappoint

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay. The owners are Spanish & there is a Mediterranean influence in some of the restaurant dishes. The food is very good, reasonably priced, portion sizes are just right too. Staff are friendly & helpful. Had excellent service.
Had read a few reviews regarding the condition of some of the rooms & was apprehensive....BUT didn't need to be at all. We paid for a room overlooking Loch Linnhe. It had a bay with a small table & 2 chairs looking straight down the Loch, absolutely beautiful. The room was tastefully decorated, with quite a large bathroom. The ONLY downside was the absence of a shower in our room (possible I missed it in the description). The bath (stand alone in middle of bathroom) had a shower mixer tap, but without a shower rail/curtain made it awkward to use as a proper shower without soaking the entire bathroom.
The hotel is ideally situated for Glencoe, Fort William, Ben Nevis & Oban. Will be going back, & would recommend.
