We have spent our extended spring holiday in Scotland. Went for a road trip around Highlands, Edinburgh and all the Inverness area. Can say now that we have not dined in a better place the whole vacation. The Birch tree was recommended to us from the hotel we stayed in and it was well worth the try. The location was beautiful, rural and the nature was pure pleasure. The restaurant itself was easy to find as it was signed straight from the main A9 road. Our meal was brilliant, very well presented and tasted even better than it looked. I had 3 courses from The ala Carte menu and my boyfriend tried the steak menu. We had rabbit pie and blue chesse souffle for starters and it was nothing like what we have ever tasted before, so good! My BF had ribeye and it was cooked to perfecion with hand cut chips and cafe de paris sauce all homemade! I had duck for my main and it was mouthwatering, both presentation and the taste! Mango souffle and my BF's sticky toffee pudding were looking so beautiful on the plate that it was a shame to eat them! We were more than satisfied with the service and the price as well. We planned to stay for an hour but ended to have few glasses of wine and stayed for much longer as we were so comfortable it was hard to end the night and go back to our hotel. It was just such an unforgettable experience, we might consider to explore Scotland more again in the future, just to have an excuse to come again to The Birch Tree :) To be honest we still speak about it to this day!
