“The best restaurant around!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Greeted by warm welcoming staff and whilst looking over the menu was given home made bread rolls, brilliant idea. It has one of the most original menu's around this area, including it's incredible 'steak menu' which I ordered a lovely sirloin steak from. It was amazing, well seasoned with REAL chips none of those frozen rubbish ones. My steak was cooked to perfection! I then followed with a trio of ice creams and sorbets from which the cook made himself and came up with out of the norm flavours - the cinnamon ice cream is to die for! It is incredibly good value for money, only cost around £45 for 2 steaks and 2 desserts, including our drinks! The scenery is amazing, either looking out for miles and miles across the fields and sea or looking out across fields full of horses gives the restaurant a lovely down to earth feel to it. Would recommend to anyone!

“Stylish and sophisticated menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2013

After many months of passing the signs for this place we finally went for a lunch and were not disappointed. It is a relatively small room but beautifully done. The waitress was lovely and couldn't help enough. The food was fantastic! We had a two course lunch and have to say this is definitely one of the 'best value for money' meals we have had anywhere. We have absolutely no complaints at all about the food and will be going back to try the dinner menu.

“One of the best things we have experienced in Scotland!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

We have spent our extended spring holiday in Scotland. Went for a road trip around Highlands, Edinburgh and all the Inverness area. Can say now that we have not dined in a better place the whole vacation. The Birch tree was recommended to us from the hotel we stayed in and it was well worth the try. The location was beautiful, rural and the nature was pure pleasure. The restaurant itself was easy to find as it was signed straight from the main A9 road. Our meal was brilliant, very well presented and tasted even better than it looked. I had 3 courses from The ala Carte menu and my boyfriend tried the steak menu. We had rabbit pie and blue chesse souffle for starters and it was nothing like what we have ever tasted before, so good! My BF had ribeye and it was cooked to perfecion with hand cut chips and cafe de paris sauce all homemade! I had duck for my main and it was mouthwatering, both presentation and the taste! Mango souffle and my BF's sticky toffee pudding were looking so beautiful on the plate that it was a shame to eat them! We were more than satisfied with the service and the price as well. We planned to stay for an hour but ended to have few glasses of wine and stayed for much longer as we were so comfortable it was hard to end the night and go back to our hotel. It was just such an unforgettable experience, we might consider to explore Scotland more again in the future, just to have an excuse to come again to The Birch Tree :) To be honest we still speak about it to this day!

“What a find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

We'd been meaning to go to the Birch Tree for ages, and when we eventually did so last week we wished we'd gone a lot sooner. By amending our dining time they were able to fit us in at late notice: there aren't very many tables and we appreciate that you shouldn't try to rush good food or service. The staff were all very welcoming and attentive, the atmosphere was cosy and friendly, and the food was absolutely top-notch. We've not had any better in the northern Highlands. There are some really delicious-looking menu choices, and we can't wait to go again to try them out.
